I got my money's worth,

This review is from: AppleCare Protection Plan (iMac) OLD VERSION (Personal Computers)
After 2.5 years of wear and being carried around the world, my iBook crashed and I was really in dispair--I was away and not close to an Apple store at the time so I tried just bringing it to an indpendent Apple retailer to see if I could just pay to have it fixed.
They were going to charge me to diagnose the computer, and said it was likely I'd have to pay a few hundred dollars to replace the hard drive. I had the uneasy feeling I was getting ripped off, so I waited to see a Mac specialist. Because I had the protection plan, I made an appointment and within 10 minutes someone at the genius bar was able to figure out the problem. I got my entire hard drive replaced within a week, and the computer runs just like new and even runs on the latest operating system (which I didn't have). That, and they were even able to retrieve some of my files and burn them onto a DVD the same day I dropped it off for the repair. I wish it didn't cost so much, or that Apple would just include this stellar cusotmer service in with their products as part of their branding; but even with the price tag I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

I love my iMac G5, but...,

...I've had two defective power supplies and a bad logic board in the 2+ years I've owned it. Both occurred after the 1 year warrantee had expired. Fortunately, I had purchased Applecare, so I just took my iMac to the local Apple store. They fixed it, and I had it back, good as new, the next day.

The best you can get.,

This is by far the best support you can get in the tech market and very wise investment. This package extends your warrenty for three full years and also comes with a very pleasing, powerful and handy Tech-Tool. When you run it, it scans everything on your whole systems and gives you detailed information on any errors or improvements that can be made. The Tech-Tool is worth the price alone. I have installed the Tech-Tool on my Imac and Macbook pro and it works wonderfully and neither system has reported a single problem in over a year. Thanks Apple.

This is my second Apple Care Protection Plan - No one should be without it that owns an Apple Product -
I needed repairs on my product and the cost of repairs would have been more than double the cost of the plan - and my service in the Apple store was superb!

What can I say, it's great especially if you're new to Macs like I was. I'd say it's worth the peace of mind and the money you're spending to buy the industry gold standard in support. You actually speak with smart English speaking people here in the US or Canada who want to answer your questions and do! I'm also fairly certain Amazon has AppleCare at the lowest price.

Very helpful, very friendly and very passionate about making your experience very positive. I have had to use AppleCare only once, and I truly felt like a valued customer. If I had to wait a few minutes, I was always told about the issue and the reason why. Definately worth the purchase.

Bad Product,

The product I purchased was an Apple Care Plan for my IMac. The bottom line is that a great deal of retailers are selling this but only a few are authorized resellers. This retailer is not. If you purchase this product from any source other than an authorized Apple Retailer your taking a chance. My box was unopened with a wrapper on it. This has no barring on it's authenticity in fact it is only part of the ruse. My product did not work, it had been registered to someone in Europe. Apple knows by the number who has registered it so they will not allow you to complete the process. This is all the advise I can give you. On the up side the retailer did refund my money but made the claim they too are a victim. I'll take them on face value however, if your looking for a genuine copy of a Apple Care Plan buy it from an authorized dealer.

I strongly recommend Applecare for any Apple laptop or iMac product that you have invested time and money. As a tech myself, these machines are bit more difficult to repair on my own and the costs for replacing such items as the LCD can be quite expensive. The AppleCare is well worth the investment.

Apple's warranty on the iMac is 3 months telephone support and 3 years hardware. However, in my experience, Apple won't honor their hardware warranty unless you buy the extended support plan.
After 4 months, I started having problems with the Mighty Mouse (see that product's Amazon listing for its own support problems). I attempted to report the issue to Apple by telephone to ask how to get the hardware issue resolved under warranty. I explained what I had done to reconfigure the mouse, and was told "I'm sure I could help you resolve it with configuration, but you'll either need to pay $50 for this incident or get the care plan." I got the care plan. Then I called back and gave the same explanation. This time I was immediately told that the mouse needed to be replaced under warranty. The support under the plan is OK. It's deceptive that Apple doesn't include this cost in the price of the product. Unless you have no problems with it, and that seems unlikely these days, you'll need it.

I bought this warranty along with a 27" iMac in August 2009.
The hard drive failed two weeks ago. The Apple store refused to honor this warranty from an "unauthorized seller". The Apple store allowed me to buy a legitimate warranty from them for near $200 and replaced the hard drive. ADVANCITY HAS NOT RESPONDED TO MY THREE COMPLAINTS. Amazon replied with a sympathetic note. |
