5.0 out of 5 stars Get enough books to start your own group
If you can find some mentors to lead you and friends through this study do it, but don't be afraid to start your own group. This is great for a neighborhood study. JE

3.0 out of 5 stars Great concept, expense unreasonable.
I purchased this book thinking I would start a group at my church. I love the concept. The book suggests a cooking part, Bible study part, and follow up. However, upon further reading, it shows a cost of $1000.-$1200. per six week study. This is very unreasonable.
I may use the concept and just have a fellowship group where each lady is asked to bring her favorite...

This is a wonderful idea for strengthening relationships with older and younger generations. We are going to try it in our church. We may alter the program a bit as it is quite ambitious, but I think we can make it work. Be willing to work with it and don't get bogged down in the details of making it look just like the model.

Read this book and then buy more to give to your friends. This is a wonderful group program for older women to mentor younger women.

I may use the concept and just have a fellowship group where each lady is asked to bring her favorite recipe to show as a demo for a small group.
Again, great concept, just not practical. Biblically sound. We will just choose a Bible study component to coincide with whatever our Pastor is teaching at the time of the group.

This is a wonderful, structured plan for older women to follow in mentoring/nurturing younger women in following God's word. It helps you set up a 6-week program, meeting once a week for 3 hours. The first hour is spent in the kitchen, while one woman, the cooking mentor, fixes a pre-planned meal. The second hour is a Bible study, taught by one of six mentors each week. These lessons are in the book and menus are also in the book, if you need them. The lessons are Kindness, Loving Your Husband, Loving your Children, Submission, Purity and Hospitality. The third hour is spent eating the meal, talking about the lesson and getting to know each other.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!, July 11, 2008
This review is from: Apples of Gold (Paperback)
This is a wonderful program. I honestly can't say enough good about it. What a way to reach out to the women in your church, or in your neighborhood! I went through the program last summer and had the opportunity this week to serve at a new AOG session. It has been such a blessing to me, especially at a time where not many take the time out of their busy schedule to nuture friendships. I have never felt so truly cared for. The meals we did were not the ones in the book, but we did do meals. Some groups have chosen to leave this part out. I would definitely not do this. There is something so great about having a meal together and also not lifting a finger! You feel so pampered! Can't wait until the author pens a continuation study!

A great program nurturing younger women by older women. Includes lesson guides, recipes, suggestions to make it fun with a purpose. Our church has offered 4 classes and we always have a waiting list for those wanting to be part of Apples of Gold. Highly recommend.

This was not what I expected. The product arrived quickly and was in good condition, but I didn't care for the study.
