My husband and I both think this album is one of the best around. We've been listening to this album since it came out, then we saw the band play in Sacramento, CA--they were amazing! We hear they're going to be in the New York City area soon, and can't wait to catch their show again. Their live show is amazing. As our good friend Lolo said, "they're the best!"

This is a great pop album. I think perhaps the best thing about it is that it's inspired...I went to the record store the other day and listened to about every single thing in the listening stations, and to be honest all the major-label stuff just sounded so watered down and boring...then I came to this record and it sounded like someone had actually experienced something, then written a song about it--what a concept! the Applesaucer album has that 'real' feel to it. Love it! Lazy Jane and Dark & Rainy Town are my faves. So good. So so so good.

Bright Music for Misfits,
This review is from: Applesaucer (Audio CD)
In a perfect world, you'd never get laughed at for being different in high school, you'd stay friends with all your ex-lovers and Applesaucer would be on the cover of Rolling Stone. The catchy synths and guitar work are reminiscent of the Sixties' brighter side, but it's really in the songcraft more than the sound that this album reminds me of that era (no Elephant Six nostalgia here). The songs are quirky in the way that the Kinks or XTC were quirky--taking an off-beat slant on everyday situations. "Dark and Rainy Town," "Lazy Jane" and "Bar" are just three of the catchier offerings from a record that shines with unique arrangements, infectious melodies and a playful intelligence. One of S.F.'s very best indie bands, and one of the few that's sure to make you smile. Buy this album--you'll get it.

Sometimes a really good album needs to get stuck in your car stereo for a week or so before you realize how amazing it is. especially when the best songs are in the middle and at the end (the songs "Incredible Gravity" and "Angelene" are amazing. Very diverse and creative.

This is the best, most innovative, new rock music around!!,

This is my favorite album. I think Applesaucer's on its way to becoming the next big thing. They have three songwriters in the band which make for music that's innovative, fun, great to sing along to, and never boring.

i was introduced to this band in sf a couple of weekends ago. live. (8-10 feet away, center. no visual or audio obstruction--and no conceptual obstacles (other people's opinions) to separate me from the astounding lyrics, the (adjective-perfect?) synergy and skill this inspired team of musicians offer). when the set was over and my mouth came up off the floor, i composed my self and rushed the 5 inches that separated me from the generous soul (god? who made me come to sf that weekend? who made me born?) for turning me on to this (adjective) band. walking home: i professed - so impressed, i'm paying the cold hard cash. (!) and for every future cd, too. i hear the new one is hard to come by. can't wait til it's out. what a fresh breath. buy it. oh, and see them live--at least once.

There are so many amazing songs on this record that I don't know where to start... OK, from the beginning. "Spaceman" opens the album with a bang and then the album winds its way through many pop moods until it ends up on the equally mind blowing "Launch". But in between, my personal faves were "Movie", "Dark and Rainy Town" and "Angeline". Not a bad song in the bunch. Entertaining, refreshing and down-right groovey!

This is a darn good cd. The tunes are catchy, the lyrics are good, and there's a lot of variety. There seems to be a lot of different influences--alternative, brit-pop, glam. It's like Built to Spill got together with the young David Bowie, talked to the guys from Weezer, and listened to the Beatles. Or something like that. "Bar," "Dark & Rainy Town," and "Angeline" are especially good tunes.

One of my favorite pop albums ever!,
This review is from: Applesaucer (Audio CD)
Boy I miss Applesaucer. This album was and is a delight. Delicious, catchy pop that borders on epic at times (Angeline). Wow, why didn't they become huge? They were local bay area darlings for a while, and played a good number of shows (I caught 3-4 of them),but after that... poof. Scott went on to fame in the Lovemakers, but where is everyone else? I've heard rumors of a 2nd album that was never released... boys?? You reading this? Hook up your fans!
