A & L 5 th edition,

This review is from: Appleton and Lange Review for the Radiography Exam (CD-ROM)
As an educator in radiography, I have found this book to be extremely useful. For the past four years my students have used it as an addition resource guide in Procedures class. They have also found this book to be their best aid in preparing for the national registry. The book covers the entire core areas need for the ARRT examination. The students like the fact that they can review material over and over and take practice examinations. They also especially like the CD that is included with the text. The registry is computerized, and it is good to practice in a format similar to the real thing.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I trained through the US Army Radiology Specialist program and this review helped me alot. It came highly recommended by all the instructors and they weren't kidding. There is alot of info in each question and it is harder than the actual registry. Each question they ask in the book is like 2 or 3 questions on the actual test so if you take the chapter reviews and read the explainations for why that answer is correct, you're golden.

A&L 5th Edition Very Disappointing!,

I purchased this review to help prepare for the ARRT Reinstatement exam following my return to the field, and though I felt that it covered the core content well I was extremely disappointed that so many of the questions, both in the book and on the CD-ROM, had incorrect answers. The expanation of the answers even explained HOW the *correct* answer was incorrect!! Maybe the editors should have taken a little more time! I became very frustrated with this and gave it up for a (more expensive and much more worth it) Kettering Review. Would never recommend this review... especially to new grads taking the ARRT for the first time!!

Just took the registry in May 2004. This study guide was of very little use. The questions on the real registry are structured totally different than the way the book presents the material. Very little positioning questions or anatomy on the real registry. Only about 40% of the registry questions are covered in this book. Keep your textbooks and save your money.

If you want to pass your registry exam get this book in its lastest edition. I tried to study on my own and I couldn't pull it together. I passed my exam on my first try. I highly recommend this book.

This was a great tool. Our Director told us not to use it, but believe me, lots of the questions are verbatim. There is even a CD to practice. You'll become very familiar with the types of questions that are on the test.

book is good, software is TERRIBLE,

The book is good and has been a helpful review, however the software that accompanies the book is just terrible!! It provides questions in a test like format and when you answer a question correctly it tells you that you are wrong and then explains how that answer that was marked wrong is actually the right answer. Very frustrating! I give up!

The book was in mint condition since it was brand new. Also, it helped me pass the registry exam. The review questions helped me find what I still needed to review, and they seemed more difficult than the registry exam questions. So I felt the book made me feel like the registry was a breeze.

I just took the registry exam in April of 2004. Honestly, I didn't use this book all that much. There are so many typos that it is hard to read and some of them change the meaning of the questions. Some of the questions contradict each other. Some say to use gonadal shielding on all exams on all patients - even pelvis routines. Others will say the right answer is to only use it when the gonads are within a certain distance from the primary beam or when shielding won't interfere with imaging the pertinent anatomy. That makes it difficult to study. I did use the CD-ROM that was included. It helped me to know how I would do on the actual exam. For instance, it helped me to know that I needed to slow down and read the whole question.
