Dr. Martin I Lorin was born in Brooklyn, New York. After graduating medical school at NYU and completing his residency in pediatrics, Dr. Lorin spent several years spent working as a physician on the Navajo Indian Reservation in Arizona. This gave him the opportunity to explore Native American culture, past and present, kindling an interest in archeology, which eventually grew to include biblical archeology. The combined passion for archeology and love of mysteries led Dr Lorin to write Genesis One: Abel Is Missing. This novel explores the murder of Abel in southern Mesopotamia, the purported location of the Garden of Eden, about 5,000 B.C., a time when the world's oldest known civilization was beginning to bloom. While the novel parodies today's hard-boiled investigators and their clients, it also explores the relationship between man and his gods. It is a mixture of mystery, archeology, and theology, with a generous helping of humor and suspense.
Dr. Lorin lives in Houston, Texas, where he is Professor of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine. He has previously authored three nonfiction books, including The Parents' Book of Physical Fitness for Children (Atheneum, 1978). He is completing the second book in the Genesis series, Genesis Two: a Serial Killer on Noah's Ark.
