Recommended -- Detailed footnotes for nearly every verse,

This review is from: Life Application Study Bible (King James Version) (Hardcover)
I really like this bible. There are definitions at the bottom of each pg. for the hard to understand or rarely used words. Also footnotes for nearly every verse to help understand the meaning. I prefer the KJV over the NIV (although the KJV is written in an older style text) because the NIV takes out certain parts of verses or changes words altogether which change the message. If you want to know what I mean check out Romans 8:1 for one example."There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." Rom 8:1 The NIV leaves out the last part which says, "who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." Which is a very important part of the message. As cross-references would agree. We are definitely saved by grace through faith as written in Ephesians 2:8,9. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Eph 2:8,9 However putting this altogether as briefly as I can works do not save us but is the outward representation of our faith. James 2:17 says: "Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone." James 2:17 If you have a bible continue reading that in context from James 2:17-26. Sorry for making this long, I hope this review has helped. If you are looking to purchase a bible I definitely recommend the Life Application Study Bible (KJV). The footnotes will help you understand the message in context if you have a hard time with the meaning. God Bless!

Good Bible for a "baby" Christian,
This review is from: Life Application Study Bible (King James Version) (Hardcover)
This is a good Bible for someone new in the faith or who has is just learning to really delve into the Word of God. It has a lot of character studies and explains every book of the Bible with easy to understand explanations for each verse. However, once you want more "meat and potatoes" this Bible will no longer satisfy. You will reach a certain point in your walk with God when you want deeper explanations and understanding of God's Word. I have just reached that point and no longer find my life app Bible to be satisfactory for Bible study. A MacArthur study Bible has been recommended to me for that. But I do strongly recommend the life application Bible for someone just beginning to study the Bible who wants clear, basic explanations for verses.

This review is from: Life Application Study Bible KJV (Kindle Edition)
I love using the print version of this bible so I have been looking and finally found it for the kindle app on my iPad. This electronic copy is great until you get to the Master Index. The abbreviations of books and personality profiles, among others, are jumbled. The book names are printed over top the abbreviation. In the personality profile, it looks good at the beginning, once you click on the persons name to see the profile, it happens again. Things are jumbled. I hope that it gets fixed in an update soon.

GREAT SOURCE FOR CLARITY & A BETTER WALK!!!,

This review is from: Life Application Study Bible (King James Version) (Hardcover)
Okay, I must admit, my walk with Christ hasn't been perfect, and sometimes I get discouraged trying to figure out what characters in the bible really meant and why they even did some of the things that caused the mistake to happen. I could easily end up slowing down my Bible Study classes trying to figure the true answers. A friend bought me this book for my birthday and I haven't let go of it since. It's got everything from word definition at the bottom, to a brief reference to who an what that particular person was about. Plus, descriptions on verses to provide the reader with a " short self-schooled session" as to what the selected verses mean. Honestly, if your a reader focused on learning about Jesus Christ more and not worried about hiding a 2inch thick bible then you found a great selection. It even includes a time-line in every few passages letting you know how the time period of events happened. Long story short, this bible has saved me from alot of phone calls and research in trying to get a better understanding of God's word! In most cases, KJV format will confuse my understanding (thy, thou, thee), but that's not the case for this one,I can understand what I read and even if I don't, I know that I can always look at the bottom sub-information to get a more in-depth understanding....it's just easy2 to comprehend (and saves me from making a lot of phone calls, lol) Be blessed!

The Original: Even Better!,
By
This review is from: Life Application Study Bible (King James Version) (Hardcover)
I liken this Bible translation to that old, reliable in-line Slant6 motor with the power of a modern Hemi V8. Footnotes and commentary is spot on for those that take the time to read such things in a Bible. If one wants to raise their degree of reading past the junior high school level, then this Bible is for you. The eloquent manner and prose used in this timeless standard is unparalleled. I got this after I learned that the reading level of this work is equivalent to the 12th grade/ freshman college level. I wanted to raise my understanding of the English language also plus learn God's word better and this helped a lot. However, the main factor in my getting this was I found out that many verses were removed in other "New Age" translations, most notably the NIV. The clincher was seeing Jesus' words removed in that 'book'. To me that was UNACCEPTABLE. He said those words for a reason i.e. "For the Son of man has come to save that which was lost."- Matthew 18:11. THE WHOLE REASON WHY HE CAME! Keep in mind that we don't live forever and there is a God because this planet and it's perfection to support life is not an accident. Research at the odds of that fact...This Bible will be a very good reference and eventual replacement for those newer bibles, if one has those: It has supplanted my NIV. Research what was said above concerning missing passages and ask for guidance to get this wonderful book because you need it. GOD Bless!!! |
