4.0 out of 5 stars Another gem in the CWG series, October 7, 2003
By
Tim Burness (Brighton, England) - See all my reviews
Even though I am a huge fan of the first few books in the best-selling Conversations With God series, I must admit at first glance I thought this was probably just an unnecessary re-hash of the same ideas. Surely Neale and God had said it all, and the cynic in me noted that the print is larger this time i.e. there's less in it.

But Mr. Walsch and God strike again! The three sections on holistic living, relationships, and abundance and right livelihood are all full of excellent little anecdotes, stories, practical suggestions and a few corny jokes ;o) that derive from the wisdom of the previous books. Much is familiar but as the author observes, "if even one comment opens a new window or throws wide a doorway to greater happiness, you will have been served". It more than did this for me.

The ideas and perspectives on relationships, money ("money's only value is when it leaves your hand"), sex, nurturing mind-body-spirit simultaneously and love are well worth repeated reading and add to the store of practical wisdom in the Conversations With God books as a whole.

4.0 out of 5 stars A worthwhile read if you are into self-improvement, January 2, 2004
I like the ideas in the book, they are interesting and informative. Money should be given away is one of the concepts. What he mentions about this area is enlightening. It touched me, i have been in the habit of saving over the last year; however like the this book mentions that it actually decreases as the years go bye. You wonder how anyone ever wins! Deepak Chopra has a similiar concept where you keep it all circulating. The ideas on abundance are worthwhile. Neale mentions that he has been at the bottom, and it would take a lot to get back their. I love rags to riches stories. There is this example of a checkout type line and the person is really happy in the job and everyone wants to be in that line. It is things like that can make a difference in one's life.

The Holistic living provides some career type advice about being trapped in situations, and being aware of how detrimental negative thoughts and situations can be. I do keep positive as much as possible. Another two aspects that i found useful was about not letting something from the past 10-15-20-30 years ago affect your present life. He really hammers this home. Not as easy thing to do at times. We can only really live in the present, and sometimes it is better to move on. The other aspect is about exercise - did not expect this - figures for people, not doing enough is alarming in this country. I love sports, and exercise and do it everyday, and i am glad that i am on the right track. Bike riding suits me and i feel natural with it. I used to ride the bike everywhere, until i bought a car, and my fitness went downhill; for ten years I was on a slide which made me feel so miserable at times. So i have gone back to my old ways which has helped my health, bank balance, and general well being.

Neale mentions that there is not enough reading being done. If your look at the national statistics for literacy it is worrying. He himself reads about 50 books a year which is a lot. Compared to the people who read 4 and think that is great. I probably read about 30 with all the daily newspapers-like to know what is happening in the world. It gives your mind a workout and challenges to think.

Applications for living is a worthwhile read and you will learn a lot. The proverbs in the Bible gives a lot of tips on life as well. I like the human interest stories and examples. He seems like a warm hearted person who is-like the rest of us- to find out how all this life stuff seems to work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Applications for Living by Neale Donald Walsch, January 25, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
It covers 3 books that had been published seperately. (1-Holistic Living, 2-Relationships and 3-Abundance and Right Livelihood) This book follows the Conversations with God messages of awareness in clear, focused detail. Now I get it, really get it on how positive or negative thoughts directly creates experiences of healthfulness or illness, we make our own choices. The negative energies of anger and resentment causes people who live in the here & now to carry the pain from the then & there. After many years, they won't let go of the pain and they won't allow anyone to take that pain from them, even if thet could. Because if they let go of that pain, then they'd be letting go of all of their drama and the stuff that justifies the way they are and the way they've been all these years. They allow the person who did the original damage to continue the damage for 20, 30, 40 years by remembering and not forgiving. The MEMORY of the negative thought has created more damage over time than the original damage! Until we've learned the healing of forgiveness, our wounds will fester inside us long after the outward scars have disapeared. Positive thinking moving through a lifetime, experiences healthfulness. Neale gives us some very simple steps to maintain a Higher Level of Health. I recommend this book to everyone remembering who they are & who they want to be.
