Book Description

1934015121 978-1934015124 June 23, 2008
Intended as a textbook for electromagnetics or a reference for practicing engineers, the book uses the computer software packages QuickField and MATLAB for visualizing electric and magnetic fields, and for calculating their resulting forces, charge, and current distributions. The concepts of electromagnetism come alive as the readers model real world problems and experiment with currents in biological tissue under electrical stimulation, for superconducting magnetic shielding, Monte Carlo methods, etc. The accompanying CD includes the Student Version of QuickField (widely used in industry), as well as numerous demonstrations and simulations with MATLAB. ++Features +Application-based examples in the text include the calculation of currents in biological tissue under electrical stimulation, superconducting magnetic shielding, etc. +Includes a CD-ROM with functional software, simulations, calculations, and figures +Uses QuickField and MATLAB as tools for teaching applications of electromagnetics +Builds understanding of the qualitative behavior of electromagnetic field principles with visualization of color, contour, and vector field plots in the post processing module +Develops a connection between analytical and numerical solutions of electromagnetic, mechanical, and thermal physics problems +++Brief Table of Contents Introduction: A QuickField Run Through. 1: Vector and Scalar Fields 2: A Walk Through QuickField with MATLAB 3: Electrostatics 4: Magnetostatics 5: Time Harmonic Magnetics 6: Transient Magnetics 7: Superconductors in External Fields 8: DC Current Flow 9: AC Current Flow 10: Coupled Field Applications. 4.0 out of 5 stars Applied Electromagnetics: cover many examples (includes CD), September 15, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Applied Electromagnetics Using QuickField & MATLAB (with CD-ROM) (Engineering)(Physics) (Hardcover)
Very useful book on Electromagnetism (intermediate University level). Theoretical and conceptual backgrounds are not very deep. The book is centered on technical aspects (numerical techniques, etc.) and solution of interesting examples using QuickField (lots of examples) and MATLAB. Examples range from classical academic ones to topics in superconductivity or biophysics (cell models).
