This review is from: Applied Mergers and Acquisitions, with CD-ROM (Wiley Finance) (Hardcover)
Something that is really outstanding about this book is the fact that covers every single aspect involved in the M&A activity: Business strategy, Due Diligence, Valuing Firms, Valuing Synergies, Real options, Deal design, Risk Management, Governance, Leadership, Ethics, Value creation (and destruction), post merger integration strategies, and so on. The book has 1027 pages with truly useful information, in-depth insights, more than 25 cases, many exhibits, examples, notes, etc., and it's written in clear and simple terms. The CD included contains many interesting and useful tools related with the M&A process.
Either as a student or a business responsible you may find in this book the answers to the majority of your M&A questions. And the great thing is whether you are a complete novice or an experienced professional, you will probably benefit reading this book. Highly recommended.

I needed this book for business school, but our student store did not have the copy with the CD-ROM. Purchasing the book with the disc was a huge plus. It has very helpful examples and exercises of some pretty intimidating math.

Very Good Book, Very Good and Expensive CD,
This review is from: Applied Mergers and Acquisitions, with CD-ROM (Wiley Finance) (Hardcover)
This is the most complete book on M&A. I got the CD version that costs alot more. The content on the CD is good. But, if you dont want to spend money on the cd, the no-cd edition will make your day anyways

Terrific book on M&A,

Bruner's book, while pricey, is an excellent textbook on M&A. His bibliography and command of the literature are encyclopedic. His coverage of topics and focus on process are thorough and smart. He provides an admirably pragmatic perspective that combines theory - such as it is - with practice and case studies. The exhibits are detailed (almost overwhelming) and his summary takeaway stances (of often contradictory study results from the literature) are well-reasoned, plausible, and very helpful. All in all, a very impressive guide to a complex topic.

This is truly an exceptional book. Applied Mergers and Acquisitions is used in top MBA programs and is required reading for investment bankers, equity analysts, and those working in an M&A department in non-financial institution. Two things separate the book from others that cover mergers and acquisitions: (1) the book is comprehensive with 38 chapters and over 1000 pages and (2) the book is exceptionally well written and a lot of fun to read.Because the book without the cd is significantly cheaper, I originally bought the book without the CD. Don't make that mistake. After reading about the contents of the CD in the book, I bought the version including the CD. Although the CD is wonderful, and is easily worth the $100 extra charge, it leaves room for improvement. First, the models do not look professional since no formatting is applied. Second, there is no comprehensive model that incorporates all the valuation methods into one workbook. (There is a four worksheet model that is very good however). Third, the due diligence checklist is not included on the CD. That said, this book-CD combination is a must have for anyone who is even remotely interested in finance. |
