I took this product because my sister had an extra bottle and said it made her feel "clean." First, let me say that this actually does "cleanse" your system. I found myself running to the bathroom several times. After my bathroom adventures I decided to research the ingredients in these magic pills. If you look on the back of the label more than half of each pill includes a "cleansing support blend." This blend includes cascara sagrada powder and slippery elm powder. These are both LAXATIVES that people use when they are constipated.

As far as the "acai" part of this is concerned, it's really just a marketing gimmick. The manufacturers of the product are exploiting the American public's lack of knowledge on the berry. In reality it's actually a tasty fruit that is healthy for you when eaten fresh. However, it is not a magic berry with endless amounts of antioxidants and weight loss properties. The FTC is suing several manufactures for making such spurious claims (Wall Street Journal) and blueberries, blackberries and pomegranates all have more antioxidants than acai. In fact the "acai cleanse blend" listed on the bottle is actually a mix of various different extracts that include many of these same fruits.

I suspect some of the reviews on here to be fake reviews as the extremely positive ones reporting weight loss have no other reviews on their record. Unless you are constipated, I can't recommend this product for you. Even then, you should probably consult with your doctor first before taking a laxative because they can be dangerous when not taken properly. I hope this review has been helpful to you and remember to do your research BEFORE putting anything in your body! I know I've learned my lesson.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally A Product that Works, December 21, 2009
This review is from: Applied Nutrition 14-day Acai Berry Cleanse 56-Count Bottle (Health and Beauty)
I have tried the product a couple of times with several months of a break in between. This is my third try with the fat burner. Before, I was using it to relieve constipation and bloating. Now I'm using it to help with my weight loss. I need to lose 20 lbs. This is my third or fourth day, and I feel amazing. My stomach is going down. I have multiple bowel movements with no cramping or straining. For lunch today, I made my favorite club sandwich and could only eat 1/2 of it. I have noticed the past couple of days, my appetite has decreased. I have even lost a taste for dark colored drinks, including sweet tea. And I have always avowed never to give up my sweet tea. I'm loosing my taste for it. I have switched over to sparkling green tea by Lipton. I have read all about the discouraging news about ACAI, but for me, I've decided to not listen, but to use what is working for me. If you are researching a product to help you in your struggles to lose weight or deal with constipation, this is the answer. I struggle with both, and it works. It's better than the $40 bottle of colon cleanse I got from GNC.

4.0 out of 5 stars working well for me, January 15, 2010
This review is from: Applied Nutrition 14-day Acai Berry Cleanse 56-Count Bottle (Health and Beauty)
I bought the 10 day version of this in a two pack at my local Costco. So far it is working well for me. I feel lighter, my jeans are fitting a little better around my waist and I have noticed a decrease in my appetite. It does promote addition bowel movements, definately more than normal so it must have been stored otherwise? My only complaint is there has been some cramping and gassy feelings. I also have had to urinate more which has been waking me up at night. But overall the results are pretty good considering the cost. I would not say it is a weight loss too, but the cleansing has some of the same positive effects as weight loss.

1.0 out of 5 stars REALLY??!?, September 10, 2010
This review is from: Applied Nutrition 14-day Acai Berry Cleanse 56-Count Bottle (Health and Beauty)
I walked into CVS to purchase a cleanse, without doing any research I picked up this product. After purchasing it I decided to research and find reviews about the 14-day Acai Berry Cleanse. After reading some (okay all) of the reviews I decided to give it a try. After all it was supposed to be a mild laxative to clean out your system.
I was working out, drinking all the rivers known to man, just to ensure that this cleanse worked. I didn't purchase it to lose weight but to cleanse. Nothing happened the first or second day, but on the third day my stomach was cramping so bad, I knew I would have to reduce the required four pills a day. In between my trips to the bathroom I realize that my stool was accompanied with a lot of blood. I thought that perhaps this was a onetime deal, but throughout the day I continued to see the same thing. At this point in time I began to worry. I finally decided to research the ingredients in this cleanse. I found that Cascara Sagrada powder can cause bloody stool.
I couldn't believe it, something I was taking to cleanse out my digestive system was causing my body more harm than good. I advise that whoever takes this cleanse do your research and seriously consider the side effects. I now sit her with a sore behind afraid to go to the bathroom for fear that I will continue to see blood in my stool.

4.0 out of 5 stars it simply delivers, September 30, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Applied Nutrition 14-day Acai Berry Cleanse 56-Count Bottle (Health and Beauty)
I first purchased Acai Berry 14-day Cleanse at our nearby Sam's Club. My husband and i liked it so much and went back to get more only to find it's no longer available. The original distributor stopped selling it, too. This product produces multiple bowel movements everyday it's taken. I felt really clean inside and i thought i was pretty regular! It's gentle--no cramping, no bloating, no gas, and no foul smell. What i like the best is that my stomach is considerably flatter even after 2 days. I never want to go a day w/out this cleanse but per instruction you have to take a break after 2 weeks (otherwise i'd rate it 5 stars).

3.0 out of 5 stars It's not a fat burner., January 18, 2011
This review is from: Applied Nutrition 14-day Acai Berry Cleanse 56-Count Bottle (Health and Beauty)
After a three week food-fest I had this winter, I felt bloated and my movements became irregular and far in between. Although I gained about 7lbs this winter, I wasn't looking to purchase something that would magically reduce the amount of weight I had picked up. Instead, I wanted to buy a product that would help regulate my movements and remove some of my bloating.

I have been tying this product together with Activia yogurt for the past four days, and overall I must say I am pleased. I have been able to regulate my movements now thanks to the fiber in the yogurt and the laxatives in this product, and feel much less bloated. As for my weight, I have noticed a single pound reduction since four days ago, but I won't claim that it was any fat loss -- merely backed up waste that needed cleaning.

Like all products on the market, there are certainly downfalls. The biggest downfall for me about the Acai Berry Cleanse is that movements occur soon after eating; I need to make extra time for a bowel movement between breakfast and driving to class in the morning. If not for the time allocated before driving, I'd hate to have to go while I'm stuck in traffic.

Another observation with this product is a rather unpleasant tingling sensation just about where my tailbone is before I need to go. I'm not sure if it's a side-effect of the pills or something else -- or if it's just me that feels this -- but it's something I'd rather go without.

I give it a 3-star review because although I'm satisfied that I'm less bloated after a long holiday of eating, the side effects are rather unpleasant; this is most likely the same with any other product of its kind on the market.

For anyone who is looking at this as anything more than a body/intestinal cleaner (i.e. fat burner) this isn't the product for you.

I have a really hard time losing weight since I passed my 40's and have been trying for years to drop some weight.
I've been on this for three and a half days and got on the scale and it showed ! 10 lbs ! less.I got back off and on 3 times to verify the result. My pants don't feel that much different , but I guess the scale doesn't lie. This didn't even happen after my last, two week diet.
It does curb my appetite and food just don't seem to taste as good.
I know it's really too early to write a review, but I just had to pass this one. I'll keep making updates.

Update:One month later and I cut the dose in half (still on the same 14-day box), sometimes I forget, but it seems to have changed my metabolism. I'm down 21 lbs.

2.0 out of 5 stars A laxative--plain and simple, August 1, 2011
This review is from: Applied Nutrition 14-day Acai Berry Cleanse 56-Count Bottle (Health and Beauty)
In today's society, nutrition and diet is all the rage. And with the numerous health problems associated with not only obesity but also lousy nutrition, it's no wonder that people are willing to try any miracle cure that happens on the market. I learned long ago that quick fixes and television gimmicks don't work. The only way to loose weight is to burn more than you consume--and the only way to be healthy is to make sure what you do consume is good, hearty food filled with nutrients.
I tried the product not to loose weight, but to attempt to cash in on the nutritional benefits of the acai berry. You can't buy these fresh, frozen, or canned where I live. Other than juice blends(none of which are pure) pills are the only medium available in my location. My sister bought these pills awhile back and I, thinking they were just acai extract, decided to try them. Boy was I wrong! Lesson one to everyone who even considered taking a pill of any kind--READ THE LABEL. Usually I'm very astute and strict about this rule, but for some reason I just assumed what product I was receiving and ended up with a couple of trips to the bathroom instead.

Ultimately, these pills are glorified stool softeners. And I don't know about you but pooping out everything I eat does not leave me feeling clean or satisfied--it just leaves me irritated and hungry. These pills will also make you gassy in a very unpleasant way. So if you're constipated and happen to have these pills around, try one(not the recommended FOUR) and see if it helps but otherwise just don't waste the money on these pills. If you want to experience acai berries go to the store and buy some. And, if you're like me and don't have easy access to them, just try another antioxidant filled fruit like blackberries or cranberries.

I give these pills two stars out of five just because they do fulfill the "cleansing"(a.k.a. laxative) promise, but otherwise are a waste of time and will cause you some frantic bathroom trips, rancid gas, and unpleasant stomach cramps.

3.0 out of 5 stars Start out slow, June 9, 2011

I started the acai berry cleanse two days ago, took one pill that evening and the next day I felt fine and had no problems so I took 2 with lunch and then 1 after dinner(it says to take 2 with breakfast and 2 before bed) Today I have the runs, which is no good since I'm at work. My stomach is gurgling and everything that comes out is liquid. (I actually had to run to the bathroom while writing this)
I am 30, 5' 4" and 118lbs. I wanted to try this to help get rid of my little belly before vacation. I exercise fairly regularly but felt the need for a little extra help. I recommend just taking one pill for the first few days and work your way up and see what happens. I will skip the pills today and take just one tomorrow provided my bowels aren't liquid anymore.
Just be forewarned, and good luck.

I highly reccomend this product if you are looking for a "cleanse". I have struggled with constipation for the past few years and I have tried EVERYTHING to become regular, with no success....until now! I had at least 2 regular movements every day starting first thing in the morning. It was like a whole new world to me. I completed the whole 2 week cycle & I felt great. Didn't notice much of a weight loss, but I'm not overweight & never step on a scale, so who knows. Anyway, I am ready to start the cycle again just because I loved the way my body reacted to it. It's so easy- 2 pills with water when I wake up & 2 pills again when I get home from work or before I go to bed. It does not make me wired or keep me up at night. Compared to other "cleanses" out there, at this price you can't afford NOT to give it a shot.
