5.0 out of 5 stars Great Reference Book
This is one of the best unix / c reference books I've seen. It covers everything in a consistent and clear manner. Very useful.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great reference Book .. lots of great code to use
This book reminds me of the Turbo C Bible by the Waite group. It has example code for every function or library call. This is a great companion book for any textual Unix programming book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Invaluable reference, November 29, 2011
This review is from: Applied UNIX Programming Volume 2 (Bk/Disk) (Textbook Binding)
This book contains everything you could ever want to know about every standard C library function. Yes, big chunks of it are copied verbatim out of the Unix MAN pages, but in many cases it is fleshed out with more information.

The most invaluable part though is the example programs.

Every single function, and I mean *every* single function, has an example program showing you exactly how to use it. And not just little code snippets, but each and every example is an entire program that will compile and run straight out of the box. It's especially useful when using some of the more advanced library calls, like socket programming, etc, as it illustrates exactly how the different functions interact.

This is a book I always have at my side whenever I am programming. I couldn't work without it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Seen better, January 13, 2010
This review is from: Applied UNIX Programming Volume 2 (Bk/Disk) (Textbook Binding)
There is a new edition of this book available.
This book has nothing new to add as a teaching to advance programmers.
The layout is also bad, it's more like a soup of information
