I first used this home test 4 months after I was initially diagnosed with diabetes (my initial A1C was 11.5 with no pre-diabetes stage whatsoever) simply because I wanted to know whether my efforts to control my blood sugar were working. I did not want to wait until my next doctor appointment to find out. To my amazement, my results came back 5.7, so much better than I had even dared hope for. When I told my doctor, she was leery of my home test because she didn't feel I could improve that much that quickly. So we did another test at my hospital lab...the results were the same! I have used this test twice and just ordered 2 more kits because it really is an economical way to monitor my progress without the inconvenience and cost of a doctor visit and a regular lab. Even though I have medical insurance, it just seems wasteful to bill my insurance so much money for a test I can get far cheaper on my own by going outside the system! The cost of the home kit is less than my co-pay for the hospital lab test, plus I don't have to take any time off work to go to the lab! I just want to make a few points about this very very helpful tool for managing diabetes. The first is that the test is simple to take and to mail off. Second, I have proved to my own satisfaction that this is a very accurate testing method. The testing lab is considered to be one of the most accurate in the country and my own 'in person, at the lab' full-panel blood tests bear this out. Therefore, being both accurate and low cost, you can use this in between semi-annual A1c lab tests to see if you are on track, making it an indispensible tool in your arsenal. Receiving your results by email makes for very quick turn-around time - less than a week. Definitely recommeded.

Good way to keep tabs on things between doctor ordered labs and company customer service is great. Also cheaper than other self tests.
