5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the read.
More than the USA apprentice this British show and book emphasized the content of business over the drama of the TV show. Sugar puts over the important points of business activity well. He seems like a serious guy out to really help you. Thank you Sir Alan! From a USA reader. I wish the BBC video series was available in USA format! I wish Amazon.com had this in DVD...

This review is from: The Apprentice: How to Get Hired Not Fired (Paperback)
Now that BBC Americas has recently started playing The Apprentice UK, this review is timely.

This book documents the results of The Apprentice UK Series 1 and introduces the candidates in Series 2. It lists the background of every candidate and documents the tasks and firing decisions of Sir Alan with his elaboration of what the purpose of the tasks and why he fired who he fired.

It contains a unfilled chart at the back of the book that allows the reader to make its own prediction of who's getting fired, etc.

If you're watching the TV show and wanted to learn how Sir Alan sees the candidates in writing and the "lesson", this is a great a complement to have. However, I learned nothing new from the book vs. the TV show itself.

4.0 out of 5 stars Business Principles - A spin-off from the BBC TV series - UK, January 19, 2010
This review is from: The Apprentice: How to Get Hired Not Fired (Paperback)
The Apprentice - How to get Hired and Nor Fired by Alan Sir Sugar is a 269 page paperback. Fully revised and updated.

The book is a spin-off from the BBC TV series, though the book evolves largely around business principles which the 12 TV episodes represent as 1 people get fired and 1 gets hired.
I enjoyed the book, light-hearted reading with sound business principles. The book begins with a look at Sir A. Sugar life, his advisors, Nick and Margaret and then goes into the business side of things.

The books cover planning and adapting, market selling, perceived value, work-life balance, closing the deal, advertising, interviewing, project management, insubordination, flexibility etc.
As a TV spin-off the book also look as aspect of series 1 and looks forward to series 2. There is an index in the back and details of each series 2 candidate with two charts for IF you really ant to tick the squares to see how each candidate has performed!

The book was well laid-out with quote here and there from Sir Alan and Tim (the winner of series 1) with 'Take Action' business points in each chapter which Sir Alan has written.
