iT's pennsylvania Dutch country, 1928 and 16 yr old Billy, fascinated by amysterious traveling preacher with healing talents, enters int a strange apprenticeship with him. Dr. Reese develops a hold over the boy that becomes increasingly powerful, and eventually he halts Billy and his girlfriends plans to start a new richer life in Philadelpia. Suddenly, a deadly, unexplained blight sweeps through the farmlands and Reese, believing that a local hermit has been casting the plaque of evil spells and hexes, takes Billy with him to put on end to the hermit's curses. The line between reality and hallucination blurred, Billy assists his mentor in murdering the bizarre hermit.

Apprentice to Murder does not accurately decribe what really happened but, it was a very interesting movie about mayhem, the negative effects of brainwashing, and the downside of what Christianity occasionally does to people. Good theme and acting! Hard to believe that this occurred in the Pennsylvania German Community!
