3.0 out of 5 stars How Isherwood Got Religion, September 29, 2011

This review is from: Approach to Vedanta (Paperback)
Christopher Isherwood (1904-1986) is perhaps best known for his novel A Single Man (1964), which was made into a motion picture in 2009. This small book, 72 pages, is an account of his introduction and deepening interest in the Vedanta religion. The author became a devotee at the Vedanta Society of Southern California in Los Angeles, and wrote many articles and books on modern Hinduism expounded by Sri Ramakrishna (1836-1886). Isherwood's spiritual journey from hearing about Vedanta from a friend to visiting Swami Prabhavananda in 1937 probably mirrors the experiences of many westerners to Vedanta. The author's questions and doubts are the best part of the book. For Vedanta and Isherwood fans.
