Editorial Reviews

Product Description
A delightful tapestry of a magical, lost-world society comes together in this poetic and humorous story for children. The amazing tales behind the squares of this wonderful and time-worn quilt are unraveled: a red velvet patch recalls an exquisite dress ball and a magical midnight feast with a highwayman, while a square of green brocade carries memories of Captain Tramlemousse, a pirate. Children will immerse themselves in the beautiful language and fantastical characters of this beautifully written book.

About the Author
Adèle Geras has written more than 80 books for children, including My Wishes for You, Rebecca's Passover, and Troy.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite book when I was 10 or 11., April 29, 1999
Unfortunately, I don't remember Apricots at Midnight very well because it's been 3 or 4 years since I read it. The plot (as I remember it) was about a grandmother who tells her daughter a story each night, each one from a different patch on the patchwork quilt on the girl's bed. All the stories were wonderful. I remember one ghost story about a girl who died wearing a beautiful lace dress (it really scared me), and another one that had to do with stuffed animals-- the patch was cut from the side of a zebra. If it's the same as I remember it, it's recommended very very highly.
