Che's Critical Points about Economic Politics, November 17, 2007

I have now read, in Spanish, Guevara, E.C. Apuntes Criticos a La Economia Politica. Melbourne, Australia: Ocean Books, 2006. The publisher advises that they will release an English translation in 2008. Although written in 1965, the book has not seen print in any language until 2006.
The book prints some relevant writings and transcriptions of some of Guevara's relevant lectures from 1965 and earlier. The book includes an outline of a formal work of which only introductory material to five planned parts was completed before his death in 1967.
The completed material includes two chapters: 1) the necessity for the book, and 2) a double biography of Marx and Engels.
The main part of the book is a critique of a 1963 Spanish edition of a Stalinist "Manual of Economic Politics". Guevara critically comments in a paragraph on each of 225 points. The tenor of the criticisms is a call for integrity and deflation of hyperbole. Guevara frequently points to situations which are specific to the Soviet Union and could have no use in any other country.
