5.0 out of 5 stars Tot Trainer: Worth Every Penny
We purchased this product for our twin 2 year olds who were very weary of the pool. It gave them tons of confidence to where now they will jump in from the side and not think a thing of their heads going below water. It also gave my husband and me some freedom to relax in the pool with the kids. The only problem we had is that they both got a hole within 3 months of use...

1.0 out of 5 stars dangerous swimming gear
I see that this item gets a pretty good rating overall, I have to disagree. A friend bought this tot trainer for our son (2 1/2 years old at the time) as a gift about a year ago and of course we tried it out straight away. As soon as we let him float a little, without being held, the rubber ring around the waist tipped and caused a very frightened little boy to tip...

But my children, husband, and myself love this product so much that we have replaced them both. Tip: drying them in the sun may have caused the tube to crack.

With our constant pool-presence and supervision, our 2 1/2 year old was able to swim all around the pool by herself while wearing this. She could turn in circles easily and it didn't tip over at all. She throughly loved this experience and that makes us happy. Problems - it did not inflate with our bike pump - we had to go to the service station. It began to deflate after about 2 weeks so we had to make a return trip. It completely deflated and was unusable after the third month. We are ordering another one - because it really seems to help her with pre-swimming activities!

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT SWIMMING DEVICE FOR SMALL CHILDREN, August 21, 2001

This swim school deluxe tot trainer is an excellent swimming device for small children. My grandson needs extra help in his motor skills and this is really helping him. He loves to swim in our pool and this helps him motivate around the pool with us on his own. With this trainer he feels more independent even though we are by him at all times. My granddaughter is too big for this trainer, but when she was smaller she really enjoyed it. This is our 3rd trainer.

My daughter used this at 20 months and LOVED it. It was nice for me too. By no means would you leave your child alone in the pool or without constant supervision but she thoroughly enjoyed the freedom of movement she had and could climb up and out of the pool. She didn't want me to hold her the entire time in the pool so this gave her the means to go it on her own and gave me a break to float as I wished. :)

Tube is similar to bike tire tube. Be careful not to place it were it can me punctured.

I bought this for my oldest son several years ago. I still have it and it still works. I bought my youngest son a "fresh" one. He is 20 mos. and loves it. He went from clinging to me while fussing in a pool to pushing me away. He loves his new found freedom. It has really helped build his confidence in the water. This even held up under the wrath of our Lab! I highly recommend this for all! Sherry Fisher League City, TX

5.0 out of 5 stars Best floating device there is!!!, August 29, 2003

I was searching everywhere for some type of floating device that would allow my 2 year old to play in the pool without having to be held by mom or dad. I tried tubes and vests but my son was never able to balance himself with them on. With this tube and one piece suit, I don't have to worry about it slipping off and he is able to keep his balance and keep his face out of the water. Now the whole family can be in the pool with him and he just paddles his way around the whole pool and has the best time doing it!!!

We have 2 grandaughters who like to go in our rather large/deep jacuzzi and this is the perfect swimwear. It works better than the large arm bands or bulky lifevest. The outfit stretches to fit the 2 year old or the 4 year old. This would be perfect for anyone with toddlers at the beach or pool. Only downside is you must have a bike pump...not able to blow up by mouth.

This is one of the best products for the pool I have ever bought. He is almost 4 now but at 18 months he was getting too heavy to carry around in the pool. He jumps in and swims by himself and he says "mommy look what I can do". It is a great product to teach you kids independence and confidence in the pool. It also makes me feel safe when he is by the pool. He fell in once and when he was wearing the tot trainer and he just bounce back up to the top. I would recommend this product to anyone.

My daughter was very nervous about going into the pool. This flotation device held her face and shoulders above water and gave her the confidence to swim. And it was simple to put on and take off. The only problem we came across was when she used it for an extended period of time in a day, she would get a rash under her arm from the innertube inside of the swimsuit. Just a heads-up for anyone with sensitive skin.

I found that this article is much better than just the top and float device. It keeps the childs head from leaning forward in the water or backward and gives them a much more stable and safe feeling. My grandson positively jumps at the chance to wear it and we have a hard time getting him out. I also found that the air valve, that must be pumped up with a bike pump is much more reliable than the one we had that was the blow up type. This air valve has NO leakage what so ever. I would rate it much more than a 5.
