PoolRover

Pool Rovers clean without hoses, connections to a filtration system, or booster pumps.
Low-Maintenance Cleaners Work Unsupervised
Aquabot R- and J-Class Robotic Pool Cleaners act like powerful sump pumps and filters on wheels. These robots don't have any of the annual repair expenses associated with other cleaners, because they operate without gears, belts, bearings, swivels, pads, wings, feet, shoes, hoses, or complex drive motors.

Self-Contained Filtration Eliminates Dirt and Debris
R- and J-Class Aquabots remove everything from leaves to pine needles to sand and silt, and even filter out microorganisms to provide you with a healthier swimming environment--all without the use of your pool filter. These robots trap debris as large as palm leaves and filter particles as small as 2 microns--that's 10 times smaller than what most main pool filtration systems can capture.

Aquabot T-Jet

The T-Jet hydroscrubs, vacuums, and microfilters in-ground pools.
And because everything is trapped in the Aquabot, very little is left within your pool's filter, allowing you to cut back filter cleaning by as much as 80%. You'll save money on water and filter media replacement, and you'll reduce your carbon footprint by minimizing your need to replenish chemically treated water.

Designed for Efficiency and Improved Pool Health
When dirt and debris are vacuumed into the cleaners and then internally microfiltered, only clean water is released back into your pool. The force of the released water provides thrust to hydraulically jettison the Aquabots--there's no need for the easily damaged parts found on other cleaners.

The added benefit of this SimplyReliable design is that the thrust of the filtered water circulates the chemically rich cooler water below to mix with the chemically depleted warmer water above. This results in reduced evaporation, reduced heater usage, more uniform chemical composition, and redistributed chemicals--all of which save you money and provide your family with a healthier swimming environment.

Family Pool
Aquabots filter out debris and microorganisms to provide your family with the healthiest swimming environment possible.
Works Quickly, Without Supervision
Completely automated with built-in guidance systems, R- and J-Class Aquabots do their job independently. With no supervision, these underwater vacuums will navigate your pool floor (J-Class cleaners also clean most walls up to the waterline), regardless of its shape. They provide complete coverage without missing spots, wasting time learning your pool, or cleaning the same spot over and over. Best of all, these Aquabots can clean most pools in less than one hour.

All Aquabot R- and J-Class cleaners, cords, and power supplies operate on a low 24 volts and are ETL listed to UL standards for the highest safety and reliability ratings in the industry.

Product Description

The revolutionary Aquabot Pool Rover is the world's only jet propelled aboveground pool cleaner that provides you and your family with the fastest, most powerful and capable pool cleaning on the planet. With its own vacuum pump and reusable filter bag built-in you won't need to fumble with vacuum hoses or overwork your pool's filter pump. Simply plug "Pool Rover" in whenever your pool needs a quick thorough cleaning and press a button.

Operating on a mere 24v, Pool Rover's pump vacuums in an amazing 4,200 gallons of water per hour removing everything from large leaves and twigs to hair, dirt, sand, silt, and all of those other oddities life seems to throw in from marbles to bandages to bugs. Water, dirt and debris enter Pool Rover through two large off-centered vacuum ports to avoid clogging like other cleaners and reach dirt from the edges of the pool, where other cleaners miss.

Inside, Pool Rover features the largest capacity filter of any pool cleaner capable of filtering out even the most minute particulates such as algae and bacteria as small as two microns in size, yet easily rinses clean. As a point of reference know that a grain of table salt is about ninety microns in size and the naked eye cannot see particles smaller than approximately forty microns. The clean, microfiltered water is then directed outward, which like a JetSki, propels Pool Rover along gliding effortlessly on its oversized wheels over ripples, seams, main drains, in and out of foot prints and up slopes to clean both shallow and deep ends.

The filtered water exiting Pool Rover is thrust outward on an upward angle to maintain a downward pressure to keep Pool Rover on all four wheels. The upward water flow drives Pool Rover and the cool chemically rich water from below to mix with the warm, chemically depleted water above. This provides a more uniform chemical and temperature mix throughout.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pool Rover Above Ground Pool Vac, September 15, 2009
By

= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
The Pool Rover is the third and definitely the last automatic vacuum I will ever own. I previously owned the Aqua Critter by Hayward and the Great White by StaRite. The other 2 never completely cleaned my pool and I always ended up having to manually vacuum all the spots they missed. The other draw back to these 2 vacs is that they have to be hooked up to your skimmer to work and because of that the skimmer obviously is out of use during the entire vacuuming time. They also end up clogging your filter with dirt and leaves which forces you to have clean your filter very frequently.

The Pool Rover works independently of your filter and skimmer. It comes with a small electrical box that you plug in and gets its power from that. It has a cloth filter bag that collects all the dirt and debris. The bag is reuseable, I have had mine for 3 years now and it is still like new. All you have to do is remove the bag and rinse it out with your garden hose. A few times a year I throw the bag into my washing machine and give it a good cleaning. The cleaner the bag is, the faster the Pool Rover will work. It will clean my entire pool completely and spotlessly in about an hour. It doesn't miss any spots, doesn't tie up my skimmer or clog up my filter. What more could you possibly want in an automatic pool vac?

Today my pool was a total mess, the bottom was covered with leaves and tiny acorns and I was thinking that the Pool Rover might have a hard time cleaning such a big mess. But an hour later the bottom was spotless. It was even powerful enough to suck up all those acorns. I can't say enough about the Pool Rover, it is fabulous and such a work saver. If you are in the market for an automatic vac, get the Pool Rover, you will not be sorry.

A two year warranty; any other in this price range is only one. If you want it to go up your wall, you insert additional floats and increase the timer lap interval. Very easy to operate. Mechanically simple.

The reason I'm posting: I find it easier to clean the filter bag when dry. You turn it inside out and shake out the heavier particulate matter as it "falls to your feet". Then, wash the filter bag in a bucket of water and rinse and repeat, no detergent.

The instructions assume you will rinse and wash everything right away, after use and it is a good idea, just less awkward for me to shake the filter bag out when dry rather than try to manipulate a wet, floppy, dirty bag in one hand and spray it with a hose in the other hand.

I find as I use it often enough, I don't have to wash the bag each time I use it; I'm going for every second time, meaning, I skim a lot manually, and I also do occasional light vacs the old fashioned way, if I feel the mess is small. My pool is surrounded by SOOOOO Many tall trees it is only fully in direct sunlight for four hours a day. I have tree debris attacking any time a storm blows in and I'm glad to have this Aqua bot on hand, it truly does filter the smallest particle. My pool is 27' round above with vinyl.

If you do wait for the bag to dry before you shake clean, pop the filter base off, so the rest of the machine inside can be rinsed and dry properly. One thing I missed, as the instructions tell you, leave in the pool water for twenty minutes when finished running so motor can cool after running so long. The cycle is two hours and it auto shuts off, but you can kill it any time you notice the floor is clean. Also notice to make sure you rotate that axle pin side to the other after each use, it untwists the chord (you'll see).

This review is from: Aqua Products APRV Pool Rover Robotic Above-Ground Bowl Shaped Pool Cleaner (Lawn & Patio)
I will no repeat the specifications that you can read above, except to say that this particular model is confusing as to whether it can be used in ground pool as well as an above ground pool. I have an in ground pool and it worked fine. It was able to climb up the wall quite a bit.

I have a mango shape in ground pool, about 26 feet long, with a deep and a shallow end. I put the rover in the pool after I made sure the air was out (first dip in the pool upside down). It sank fine to the bottom, and yet felt light when you tugged on the power cord (make sure not to pull it out of the water by using the power cord). I turned on the external power supply/timer and was surprised to see it move fast on the pool's floor.

The timer sets how long it travels in one direction before reversing again. You will have to fine tune this so that the rover cleans the whole pool. Make it too short, and you will find that the rover stays cleaning one area only (prefers to stay in the deep end). make it too long, and it will climb the pool wall (if the bottom of your pool is bowl shaped) then stay up for a while, but it may traverse the whole length of the pool. So you will have to find a happy compromise. It was 30 seconds for my pool. The cleaning cycle is fixed to two hours. I found that was good enough to clean the whole pool.

I found that it cleans very well. If your pool floor is very dirty, one or two cleaning cycles (of two hours) might be all you can do before the filter needs washing. you will note that your rover is slower climbing from the deep end to the shallow end. you will have to pull the rover out the water to remove the filter and wash it if that happens. When you get the filter out, you will note how much it picks up, from the large leaf to small dust.

I am very happy with it. I had it for a month, and there has not been a need for me to come out and do the clean up the old fashion way. There are some things to watch out for to make sure it lasts. I cant speak if it will last, but you need to read carefully the manual on the handling of the rover. There are three things that come to mind beyond the washing of the filter: first, handle the rover by the handles on the side when out out of the water. second, do not pull out of the water with the help of the power cord. and third, make sure to alternate the wheel direction pin so that not one side wears out.

Other than that, here is wishing that it lasts.
