I've read the mixed reviews and wanted to share my experience with Rover. This is our second season with him, and I don't know what I would do with Rover. We bought him last year, first time pool/house owners and the pool was filled with algae and tons of stuff. Rover worked overtime, and got Everything out. Yes, his bag filled up, but the condition to the pool was not so good. We used him regularly and cleaned him after each use, following directions. We use to have a DE filter which broke and spit the powder all out in the pool.... yup Rover cleaned it all up for us. In the fall we had acorns all in the pool... yup again Rover picked up the big leaves and all the acorns, and I mean he had like 50 of them in his bag at a single time. It looked so funny emptying them out! But, he got the job done, with the solar cover even on top of the pool he works under it.

I find it great that you can just drop him in, set him to go, and come back in 2 hours and all done.... sooo easy! This year we opened our pool and once again Rover to the rescue for tree leaves and sticks and such from whatever storms we have had and normal debrie that falls into the pool. We have an above ground pool 18". His bag and the unit itself are in perfect condition. We had no problems with him at all, and again don't know what we would do with out one. If he ever broke I would not hesitate to buy again.

I love our Pool Rover. We had purchased the Robo-Kleen the season before. The Robo-Kleen lasted less than a full season before it died. We have used the Pool Rover all season without a problem. This unit is a lot lighter than the Robo-Kleen which makes it a pleasure to lift and carry. Although I must say it does feel a bit cheaply made, yet continues to rival in reliability and cleaning performance when compared to our prior Robo-Kleen. I worry that one day that the thin plastic axles of this unit will crack but so far they have been holding up well. The Pool Rover has cleaned up dirt, leaves, and algae from the bottom of our above ground oval swimming pool without a problem. It never gets stuck, nor does it climb up the walls and stall out as our Robo-Kleen often did.

So why did I only rate the unit 4 stars instead of 5? Well first off, I'll tell you that it has nothing to do with the reliability and cleaning performance of this unit. I rate it only 4 because of what seems to be cheap plastic axles (they haven't cracked yet though), non-waterproof power unit (don't leave this out in the rain!), and the required pin swapping. There is a a plastic pin that must be placed in one of 4 pin holes near the end parts of the axles. Yes, the placement of the pins are relatively easy, simply pull out the pin ring and slide it in to the next pin hole. Yes, it only has to be done once per cleaning cycle before putting the unit to the water. BUT, it is still a minor annoyance to have to change it each time and to remember to change it. These pin changes are required because it changes the cleaning pattern directions of the unit and also reduces the kinking / curling of the electrical cord that may occur if the pin is not swapped to a new position for each cleaning cycle.

Tip: enclose your power unit (the big yellow control box) in a large ziplock back and seal it off, so that in case you forget to bring the unit in before it rains, it will hopefully remain protected.

this junior rover is perfect for above ground pools.
it does what it says it will.
cleans within an hour !!
it will stop if dirty or runs into a twig.
i used it at pool opening earlier this year.
took a couple of hours, however, the pool was sparkling and ready to go,
even if it was COLD.
inside, is like a polyester "diaper". just unsnap the bottom, pull the cloth off, spray it off, and put back.

i don't let my pool get dirty, so i don't have a problem with the cloth diaper getting full.

but, i do wash it out after every use. ( my neighbor used it while we were on vacation and didn't wash it out.
we had grass growing in it when i pulled it out next time. )

read the instructions.
i keep mine set on 30.
the reset button takes care of itself.
check on it periodically because the cord will tangle. it is like neoprene.
no biggie. it sure beats the ole vaccuum in the pool sweeper !!

This really picks up everything in my pool! I have an above ground 16 x 48 pool and this has saved me soooo much time on cleaning!! I have well water which is really hard on my filter. Between the filter and the rover I have clear clean water!!! I love it. I gave 4 stars cause the price is a bit steep and I don't know yet how long it will last..if it lasts at least 3yrs then I will give it 5 stars. It is sooo easy to clean out the bag, it is NOT complicated at all!! I hate complicated, lol. Peace.

I bought my 1st Aquabot Jr. 4 years ago, and it probably would have lasted longer if it had not been left in my pool pretty much all the time.

I wouldn't be replacing it now, but it looks like something chewed through the 40 ft. cord. (it wasn't plugged in at the time).

Last year I did have to replace the cotter pins on the wheels and rubber washers. The pin to change the directions also broke last year. I didn't replace that pin, and I haven't really noticed any difference on how it cleans.

The only thing I would like is a carrier to lift the cleaner out of the pool.

I purchased this product at the beginning of the summer. Since then I have not needed to take the hand vacuum out. What a relief knowing that I could come home from work and not have to worry about cleaning the pool first before cooling off. This is the second vacuum I bought this year. The first one, from a different manufacturer, was a complete joke. Although it covered the whole area of the pool, all it did was sweep the bottom but never picked up the dirt. I was reluctant to purchase this item, but glad I did. I could not believe the job this machine has done and the beauty is that it runs independently of the filter. I could not believe how much dirt was picked up by the unit. One of the things that people complain about is the cord tangling. If you read the directions it states that after you use it just rotate the pin, located by the wheel, to the other side. this changes the sweep direction to the other side. If you follow this direction you wont have tangles. I highly recommend this product. My pool size is 15x24 oval and it takes 2 hours to clean. You will also save money by not having to backflush your pool filter after every vacuum because it runs independently.

I have had nothing but trouble with this product. I have been on the phone to the 800 number 4 or 5 times. It is not as advertised. They admitted it is not the motor on the box or in the directions, They are using up the old boxes and directions but they changed the motor. It does not clean the pool as it says.

Love this rover enough to buy another one. You just can't fix them yourself. The propellor broke after one year of extreme use. I tried to fix.. Even bought a new propellor but don't have the fancy tools to get it apart. I messed up and unscrewed the motor housing and all the oil went every where on top of things ... SO don't attempt to fix yourself. To fix it was gonna cost me 70 to look at plus shipping so I was looking at over 150 to fix... Loved it so much though so I bought a new one. Also I did not buy this on amazon the first time.Also the cord does get curled up but if you straighten before each use it works great. I still give this rover five stars.

After trying a few different pool cleaners, I finally decided to break down and spend the money for this one. It was money well spent. If you follow the directions you won't have a problem with this one. I have an 18X33 pool and it cleaned it remarkably well. I used the extension time cycle, but I don't think that is necessary unless your pool is really dirty. Remember to change positions on the locking pin, and you won't have tangle problems either. It was nice to not have hoses tangling or hanging up on the stairs. It just wanders around doing what it's supposed to do. My wife is happy I'm not complaining about useless pool cleaners anymore either. Try it, you'll like it.

The pool rover Jr. is a good product,well it's been great so far. I've opened my pool with it a month ago and I am pleased with its performance. I have alot of trees in my yard,and the rover jr get everything out of the pool.. The only issue I had so far is the cord kind of tangles up a little. Other then that it's great and saves me from the dirty work...
