I'd give it 5 stars except I don't know how well a job it is descaling. It had been installed since it would void my warranty if I did not have a descaler or a water softener. I checked it 6 months out and there's still descaler pellets in there (since I use so little hot water) so it's good to know, they just don't melt sitting there. It was easy to install and easy to change out cartridges.

FYI--Take the time and put two valves in (input/output)--makes it a lot easier to service.

Still have it. No problems so far

I had a horrible problem with scaling... water heaters were not lasting more than a year before needing service. This filter installs before the heater and works like a charm!! Water heater has experienced no scaling and no loss of efficiency for over a year and a half! I replace the filter every 6 months. Replacement is easy as can be.

I highly recommend this product!

All the best,

Jay

Installed approximately a dozen of these descalers on new tankless heater installations. Haven't received any complaints so far. As far as installation is concerned, make it easy for yourself and install an isolation valve before the filter for ease of cartridge replacement, this is assuming you bought the valve kit for your tankless heater. Makes for a two minute replacement. Manufacturer suggests replacing every 6 months...Regardless of the descaler, flush your tankless heater once a year....

This will help aid in the fight against scaling in your tankless water heater but is not a complete solution. You should still flush you water heater at least once or twice a year with white food grade vinegar. I have a whole house sediment filter on where water comes in then this on right before the tankless heater.

Easy to install, replacement cartridges are $33 every six months, so I also installed drains and isolation valves to maintain annually, "MAINTAIN YOUR WATER HEATER
Minerals occuring from hard water will adhere to the sides of copper pipe, gradually choking the water path and eventually interfering with the normal operation of your water heating and cooling appliances-leading to a subsequent increase in energy costs."

The Aqua Pure was recommended to filter the scale from my water prior to it entering the tankless water heater. Replacement filters are easy to find both locally and on the internet. There seems to be some confusion regarding the filter's life expectancy. Some sources say to change the filter every six months. Some say six months to a year. Some say once a year.

This is the stuff.... must have for ANY tankless.. keeps the crud in the lines from entering and possibly clogging or damaging your tankless's innards ... blocks scale formation as well.. replace once a year... $30 is cheap filter protection... use this $70 kit to get the right in-line connection on your install with one filter for the first year's coverage included!!

for $65 + $25 for refills, even if this adds 5% to the life of my tankless hot water heater, it has a good ROI. indications are that it can -- and will -- do much more than that as well as benefit the rest of the system when using hot water. this was a no-brainer.

that said, given the math (when the carts cost $25), you're essentially paying $40 for the stainless steel T-fitting, which does seem a bit steep. for $65, they should include two carts, not just one. i don't think i'd try to find an alternative (i.e.: a hardware store T-fitting), but it's with noting the excessive cost.
