Not worth the money,

They're cheap, but you get what you pay for. One of them that I received worked for one use. The other unit I bought worked for about a week and then intermittently works. I stored them both over the winter with the batteries out and now neither of them work. The ball bearings in the unit that are supposed to roll and make the electrical contact when it is tipped up sticks, especially when it gets really cold. I wouldn't recommend buying this. Spend more money and get a quality product, this is just a waste of time and won't help you catch any fish. Also, it is really quite hard to pair the units and if you have more than one they both go off, not that its a big deal. Just don't buy it and you'll be happy.

I've had four of these for 3 winters now but not purchased at these current prices. I use them mostly when I'm spearing pike in my dark house and need to have some means of notification when one of my tip ups gets a hit outside my shack. Out of the four one frequently malfunctions and fails to activate the transmitter for an alert. I've messed with this one quite a bit and can't get the limit switch on the tip up to be more dependable. One of the major negatives is the units use CR2032 lithium disk batteries which here in Alaska run $4 each and also 9v alkalines which are nearly $3 each. So these units are very spendy to operate.
As far as the 300 foot transmitter range: Well maybe with brand new batteries and 35 degree weather they might be good at that range for a while. But the colder the temperature the weaker the battery gets so you are limited in the range you can successfully set these out from your fishing tent or shack. I usually only place them 30-40 yards from my shack at most. All in all these things are at least 4 times over priced for what they are and do and shipping rates for a five ounce package is way overpriced. I wouldn't buy them again. I don't really catch any more fish than before. |
