Okay, this might look as another "anniversary" re-edition however, the re-mastering by a mastermind like Steve Wilson makes the whole difference compared to other releases or re-releases. Aqualung is one of my favorite albums overall (being it the "concept-album-that-never-really-was-a-concept-album") and I always felt a bit disappointed with the sound quality of previous releases... this re-edition enhances the stronger sounds and polishes the softer sounds... I bet an inexperienced listener could think that this album is brand new and newly recorded. TO ALL TULL FANS: This is a must have in our collection!!!!... Are more classic Tull albums (Thick as a Brick, A Passion Play) planned for this sort of re-mastering? I whole-heartly hope they are!!!!!

I'm sitting here listening to the Bluray disc that comes with this set and it's like hearing the album for the first time. After being blown away by the quad mix of Dark Side of the Moon, I couldn't wait for this to get here, and I'm not disappointed. Somehow quad is just better for music than 5.1. This mix is actually 4.1 to include the sub. If you're a Tull fan and you have a bluray player with a decent decoder and a room full of speakers, you'll want to get this. If you're just a fan of multichannel music, you'll want this. As usual it's expensive and you get some things you may not want but, the book is actually a very nice hard bound with some cool stuff for the fan. You also get the 5.1 mix, new stereo mix, alternate versions etc. It's a very nice package, I hope you will enjoy it as much as I am.

No question that Aqualung is a 5 star release, but ...

I'm sad that the Blu-ray disc is only available in this over-the-top $100+ Collector's Edition. The Blu-ray disc contains all of the music that is on the two CDs and the DVD, plus it includes the original stereo mix, thus making all the other discs redundant. And the LP and book are certainly nice if you are into vinyl and reading. However, if all the consumer wants/needs is the multichannel mix, this set is a very expensive way to make it available.

Plus, there are defects on the Blu-ray disc that have still not yet been corrected on currently available product.
