I bought this to help with areas of severely dry skin. It may work extremely well but, from what I can tell without a lab report, it is petroleum jelly. Instead of this item, buy a big jar of vaseline or generic for one tenth the price. All are just as messy and effective.

I was looking for something with lanolin and glycerin that could be absorbed in the skin...

I am going through chemotherapy and dry skin is one of the side effects. Fortunately, during a meeting with others in same boat, a couple of women said, "you've gotta get this--and in the big jars!" I did and now use it every night--as does my husband who is plagued with dry feet. We both are so happy to have found it. Great stuff.

My son gave me some of this in with my Christmas presents. It worked so well on my dry feet that I purchased two large jars from Amazon. I put a little on my feet every night and wear thins socks. It works like a charm. I highly recommend this product!

The only reason this item did not get five stars was because it is a bit greasy. It is the kind of emollient you apply and then add gloves or socks to help it do it's work.
If you are suffering from very dry, cracked skin anywhere, give this a try. It will help and does not to seem to have any reactions, i.e. burning or itching as it is used.

Just wanted to comment after reading the reviews..I have two children who have extreme cases of atopic dermatitis without this. I had tried everything otc and prescription. This was the best ever!! I cannot express how well it worked enough! Yes it has petroleum Vaseline did not work the same I tried it. Yes its greasy,Very greasy. But my children have itch free smooth skin with no derm visits anymore. It works miracles.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for diaper rash!, July 18, 2008
This review is from: Aquaphor Healing Ointment Advanced Therapy, 14-Ounce Jars (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
This works great on my baby's rash. It seems to heal it overnight! The only thing I don't like is having to scoop it out of the jar. It really isn't that messy though and it is much less expensive than the tubes.

A good moisturising and healing ointment that was recommended by my dermatologist for dry, itchy skin. It is soothing also.

I was looking for something with lanolin and glycerin that could be absorbed in the skin. This just sits on it until it gets rubbed off on furniture, clothing, rugs or any other thing you come in contact with. While my skin is smoother, I don't think my wife appreciates the rgeasy mess everywhere...

My dermatologist said this is just a fancy vaseline. Do not use if you are acne prone. I use it only on my lips.
