This sprinkler is very well made and has easy and effective adjustments. As the spray is widened or lengthened you lose coverage at the corners, which I've found to be true of any oscillating sprinkler, so I still water our long narrow rectangular city lawn in 2 sessions instead of 1 as I was hoping to do. However, each of those sessions is close to perfect in coverage, with no excess or omissions. No malfunctions either, just silent steady smooth operation. I'm glad I bought this sprinkler and expect to get many years' use from it. Far superior in quality to anything I found in local stores.

UPDATE: One year later this sprinkler still works like new. We use it about once a week, spring, summer, and fall.

2013 Update: This sprinkler was purchased in 2011. I am using it for the third season. How has this
unit stood up? Not as hoped. It has now begun to not rotate as designed. Sometimes it sticks in one
position or the other and sprays all the water in one spot. I've tried to get it working properly which sometimes it does cooperate, but sometimes not. It is unreliable. I attribute it to the plastic construction since I have another rotating sprinkler made by another mfg which is completely metal and it has worked flawlessly for years.
Another problem that has surfaced is the quick disconnect. Sometimes when connecting the hose to the sprinkler, the connection does not allow water to pass through the connector to the sprinkler. There is a self-sealing valve in the connecter that prevents water from gushing out the end of hose if sprinkler is not plugged in. This valve is supposed to open when plugging to the sprinkler. Many times it does not open and no water gets to sprinkler. You have to keep fiddling with the contraption until it decides to cooperate. Again, probably the plastic construction.
The Gardena is NOT worth the money because the German engineering acts more Chinese. I will use it the remainder of this summer, then relegate it to the pile of products that made promises they could not keep after the warranty ran out.

Original Review (2011) The Gardena 1975 was purchased because of its reputation, good reviews and large square foot spec. I was tired of moving sprinklers and this one held out the promise to cover my entire front lawn from a single position. I measured the lawn to make sure it was within the 3800 sq. ft.

This is the second Gardena I have now. Own one in Vermont, moved to Florida and had to have one down here too. Coverage is just awesome and the ability to control the width and length of the area to be covered is just so handy. Just love it.

Ever since I purchased my 1st aquazoom maybe 20 years ago, I have loved it.
Best darn sprinkler I have ever owned.
Yes it's a bit pricey, but the flexibility of use, it's durability, the attention to manuafcturing detail (German engineering you know)
make it a outstanding purchase!

This Gardena sprinkler is a nice, adjustable sprinkler for the lawn. You can easily adjust both the length and the width of the spray with the plastic controls. There are knobs on the left and right end of the sprinkler so you can independently adjust each end of the width of spray, and there is a similar set of two sliders on the one end to control the length of spray on each end of the pass. Very nice.

I have 60 pounds of pressure on my line and the sprinkler easily reached a width of about 45 feet and a length of about 60 feet at the end of a 50 foot garden hose.

It is truly a precision machine and undoubtedly the best sprinkler I've ever used. Mine came labeled made in Germany and is certainly worth the price paid.

Durable - much more so than other brands. Good features - can easily adjust width side to side and fron to back.

My lawn is essentially two L shapes. One in the front and one in the back. With two hoses it's a simple matter to adjust the sprinklers to water the whole lawn and nothing but the whole lawn.

I bought two and I'm considering buying two more. That way you could just turn on the water at the house, then return an hour later and turn it off again.

Very simple design.
