Product Description

The perfect aquarium for the family fun.  The Beta Bowl Aquarium Kit is the perfect tank for children and parents alike.  This 1/2 gallon starter aquarium kit takes up little space, so it is ideal for any room and decor.

Customer Reviews

They need at LEAST 1 gallon, and 2.5 gallons and up is much better.

I immediately had to return the bowl and ended up going to 2 other stores before I found the Aqueon 2.5 which, though roomier, has its own issues.

This product is cruel to both fish. who will constantly be stressed out in the tiny space.

This is too small for a betta fish (or any fish). You can get a 2.5 gallon tank cheaper than this at PetSmart! And it is too stressful to male bettas to live near each other.

I know it seems counterintuitive but most pet stores and suppliers are misinformed about bettas. Learn about betta fish and their care from breeders and enthusiasts (like the Nippy Fish site), NOT sellers. To dispel some common myths about bettas:

- They do not live in small dirty puddles in the wild. The recommended tank size is 5+ gallons. They need at LEAST 1 gallon, and 2.5 gallons and up is much better.
- They shouldn't be with or near other bettas unless breeding.
- They are carnivores and need carnivore fish food. They do not eat plants, and they shouldn't eat dried pellets, flakes or freeze-dried food, which bind them up.
- They need heated water (75-80°).
- They need a clean tank just like every other fish.
- A single betta with the correct supplies for living by itself will cost about $100. Or it can live in a larger aquarium with certain types of other fish.

Hope that helps!

This was just the product I was looking for and it delivered. I had to rinse of the included gravel a fair bit before adding it to the tank, but other than that it was great. actually, I also wish it had a another fake plant for the second fish's side.
but it is a good product and gets the job done. My fish are now happy. I think.

I bought this initially because my toddlers twins wanted pets and specifically, colorful fish. Bettas came up as sturdy fish for first time pet owners and so when we went to the store, I needed to make a quick decision. Well, the store had this tank and I didn't know much but I knew that 2 Bettas couldn't be together. So, I bought this tank and two fish and we were set, I thought. Well, I put the fish in and I just couldn't do it. They had very little room to move- not as bad as the tiny little bowls they live in at the store (ugh) but not good either!! I immediately had to return the bowl and ended up going to 2 other stores before I found the Aqueon 2.5 which, though roomier, has its own issues. But that's a story for another day. However, at least I now don't feel like I'm stuffing 2 fish into a tiny space! I live in NYC-I know how it feels to be stuffed into a small space. ;o) and yes, most people who are Betta enthusiasts would say even 2.5 is too small. But again, I live in a small space myself!!

I would not recommend this as a permanent tank. It's far too small. However, I needed it for travel purposes. I'm in college, and I travel during breaks and such. Moving around a three gallon tank all the time would be troublesome. I got this so I can transport my fish and keep him in it for maybe a week or two. After that, he goes back in his far more suitable, larger tank when I get back to my form.

This Betta Bowl is a great item to use when you would like to have one or two bettas. I especially love the divider because the bettas cannot really see each other which will keep them from stressing each other out. This is a starter kit, so it comes with food and water conditioner as well. There are some people out there who say this is too small of a bowl for two bettas to live in, but I disagree because bettas naturally live in rice paddies and even puddles in Thailand. This is great for a kid to have in their room, but parents remember to make sure the betta or bettas are properly being taken care of daily.
THIS IS NOT FOR GOLDFISH, ONLY BETTAS
