Groundbreaking analysis,
This review is from: Arab Attitudes To Israel (Hardcover)
Yehoshafat Harkabi's Arab Attitudes To Israel is the first book known to me in which the author discusses the curent Arab-Israeli conflict refering, among other issues, to the origins of Islam and the career of the Islamic Prophet Mohammad. Before pursuing academic career, Harkabi was head of the Intelligence; he gained some insight aparently unobtainable in libraries and classrooms.

This review is from: Arab Attitudes To Israel (Hardcover)
It has been almost forty years since this book was published. Now that I look at it once again, it is obvious that in its essentials it is as current as it was then. As I follow the most recent events in Egypt, for example, I learn once again -- Al Jazeera has reported it, the NY Times has suppressed it -- that the crowds are united on one subject more than any other: hatred of the Jews. And so it goes throughout the Arab world. Of course there are Arabs who are perfectly rational on the subject, but, or so it would seem, they are in a minority.
