Looks beautiful,
By
This review is from: Arabic Bible, Sharif Translation (Arabic Edition) (Hardcover)
While I cannot yet read Arabic fluently, this Arabic translation of the Holy Bible looks beautiful. I hope I might sometime soon be able to read this book, and I hope and trust that the translation is just as beautiful as the book's appearance and layout.
Each page of the Sharif Translation has a simple yet ornate border, the text includes the "short vowel" symbols, and headings and cross-references are placed outside of the border that surrounds the Holy Scriptures---all of these elements are reminiscent of the traditional format of the Arabic Qur'an. Somewhat surprisingly, the Western/English version of the Arabic numeral system is used for much of the numbering system in this version(chapters and verses;1,2,3...).

I can read this!,
This review is from: Arabic Bible, Sharif Translation (Arabic Edition) (Hardcover)
One Sharif Bible was given to a very special Leaders wife in the Middle East. She received it politely and opened it up to look inside. "I can read this" she exclaimed! This is a response I often hear about this exciting modern Arabic translation of the Bible.Arabic Bible, Sharif Translation (Arabic Edition)

simple to understand,
By Jonna "Book worm" (Cairo, Egypt) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Arabic Bible, Sharif Translation (Arabic Edition) (Hardcover)
I got this bible as a recommendation from a friend. I am fluent in Arabic yet the original Van Dyke Translation of the Bible used to be a problem for me to understand. This version is very simple and very easy to understand. Uses simple translation and simple structure of sentences making it quite easy to comprehend the message....The problem with this version is that it doesn't use the proper names of people in teh bible. It uses thier names as were transcribed in Quran which is not Christian. For Jesus, it is Eissa, for John it is Yehia.. While I understand the names and who they refer to but it denies teh power of the name and its meaning ... For a new learner of Arabic, it should be an ok translation, but take care that you need to speak the true names while reading. There is power in the name of Jesus.. I wish the publishers would amend this horrible mistake in thier coming editions.
