PDF can be downloaded legally for FREE,

This review is from: Arabic-English Lexicon (Islamic Texts Society) (2 Volume Set) (Hardcover)
Just wanted to let folks know that as of 12/2006 Lane's Lexicon can be downloaded FREE as a PDF (legally). The HUGE PDF file is somewhat cumbersome, but considering that you are saving $450 I think it's worth it. Just do a Google search and you are sure to find it.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Arabic English Lexicon - 8 Vols. (Hardcover)
I got the set new for just over $300. I waited for a good price, and at that price it was a steal.I love the set. Very detailed lexicon. Invaluable. The PDF is free, but hard to navigate. The hardbound set is superior. Well worth the $300 for the set.

There is absolutely no need to pay Amazon over $400 for something which is as essential (to the study of Qur'anic Arabic) as this lexicon when other retailers are selling it for substantially less. See [..] to purchase at a reasonable price.

The Standard Reference Work on Arabic Language,
By G-Man "G-Man" (London, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Arabic English Lexicon - 8 Vols. (Hardcover)
What more is there to say about this work that hasn't already been said? The Lane Lexicon is THE work on Arabic lexicography. As a leading academic once told me, "Sometimes, one feels as though he is reading Lisan al-Arab in English!" It is remarkable that this is the work of one man. I got the 2-volume set by ITS (now Fons Vitae) in near-new condition for about $300. Anything in that price range is a good deal. Hate navigating through the online PDF edition and generally not a fan of online versions of books. Anyways, the book is clearly a must for any serious scholar of the Arabic language.
