5.0 out of 5 stars These play as well as the Super Aramith Pros
I've played with these and the Aramith Super Pros, and there is little if any difference in playability. Supposedly, the Aramith Pro, Tournament, and other high-end sets have a special outer material that will keep the balls from burning the felt, especially if you're using Simonis cloth. I have this standard set which I use on Simonis 860 and have not had a problem. I...

3.0 out of 5 stars nice if you want to stay amature
These balls look great, the color and numbers on them are very detailed.

However if you go to your local pool hall to play, you'll notice a huge difference right-away: the balls at the pool hall are heavier in weight and more dense in material (feels more professional), they have less deflection when you hit them so your english on the cue ball aren't...

I have a couple minor marks on the cloth from jumping the cue, but I'm not using the cue that came with this set anyway. I upgraded and got the Aramith six dot cue which comes with the $288 pro set. That cue ball is about $30 here on Amazon. For a while if you wanted the six dot you had to buy it in the more expensive set, but they don't do that anymore. The new $240 Arimith Tournament balls use a new resin formula, though I'm not sure what the improvement is, I would assume it's a stronger material to avoid nicks, scratches and chips. The higher priced Arimith sets also have a different look, including the TV set with the pink 4 and 12, but really when it comes to playability there is virtually no difference between the standard or pro/tournament sets. Arimith balls are the best, and even with this set I wouldn't worry too much about wear on the surface. These are very good balls.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great set of balls., January 25, 2012

They play absolutely great. I have the Super Pro Aramith val pak set also and I cannot see a difference in play between the two. This set gets a lot of use and they are holding up excellent. My cue ball was slightly off-white but not nearly as yellowish as the picture on here, although I'd recommend you pick up the Aramith 6 dot cue ball if you are serious about the game.

These are the lower priced Belgian aramith balls. After 15 years of maintaining tables and balls at a 27 table room, I find these very durable, they play as well as the prettier more expencive balls and the smart choice. Shipping was fast, packaging was good. I would deal with this seller again.

These balls look great, the color and numbers on them are very detailed.

However if you go to your local pool hall to play, you'll notice a huge difference right-away: the balls at the pool hall are heavier in weight and more dense in material (feels more professional), they have less deflection when you hit them so your english on the cue ball aren't exaggerated. I noticed this, returned them and did some research... in a nut-shell if you want to practice with real pool balls and get better at the game you should look for the "Aramith Super-pro" or "Super-pro TV series".

If you just want a set of nice looking pool balls for your table at home, but don't really care to get better at the game, then these are perfect.
