Product Description

Editorial Review

This all-inclusive McDonald's cash register set packs enough fun to sway kids into working for the Golden Arches one day. That may be the plan of its manufacturer, but for now its familiar colors and objects make it a great pretend-play toy. The set includes everything from a Mickey D's cash register with a beeping, flashing scanner to a hot fudge sundae. Kids will really feel the part wearing the included McDonald's intercom/headset, which says 10 phrases, including the one we've all heard: "Welcome to McDonald's. May I take your order?" Other pieces include supplies for making a cheeseburger "value meal," and currency and credit cards featuring Ronald's face. --Diane Beall

I got this toy for my 8 yr old daughter, she is always playing resturant with us(usually Chinese resturant)but thought this would help her in Imaginative play.Little did I know that not only does this toy keep children busy for hours, taking your order, fixing your order, etc,BUT the cash registar is also a calculator,(didn't realize this when i purchased this item)It's great to help with Math and Money skills the cash registar comes with some money, but you can go to your local dollar store and buy play money to put in the registar,Super for learning to count back change, add and subtract and uh-oh i didn't want that item on my order could you change it? Great for kids to learn math without knowing it,I would highly reccomend this toy for any child especially those who just can't seem to get the hang of math.My daughter struggles with math and the whole money math so this really was a great gift for her.Definate 2 Thumbs Up !!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Better cash register sets out there..., November 14, 2002

Our two children received this item for Christmas last year and they ended up breaking most of it in record time. They aren't especially hard on toys, either. They did enjoy the french fries (cluster of them), and chicken nuggets but the cash register wasn't that great, nor sturdy. They also liked the clusters of coins and the credit cards. They still use those. But the rest was thrown away by Spring! It was too broken to use. There were electronic troubles as well as trouble with the plastic pieces themselves.

The toy has name recognition, certainly, for even the youngest children. But, there wasn't much educational value (especially compared to other cash register type toys) and the durability was a serious issue.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good time for your future restauranteur, December 25, 2003

My 6yo son got this toy for Christmas in conjunction with the drive-through set, and while it doesn't fit on the surface of that toy very well, it's a great pretend "restaurant" set-up. I was really amazed that the cash register actually is a working calculator! And of course, little kids love wearing the hat and earpiece - it looks so cute on! The one big complaint I'd have is the quality of the play money. There are 2 sets of one quarter, one dime, and one nickel all glued together, and a fake $1, $5, and $10 bill each. One each! And they're glued to the package and they tear when you try to take them out! The little plastic sundae looked almost good enough to eat! One caveat: Make sure to not lose the key to the cash register drawer, or else it's impossible to lock or unlock it. I recommend supplementing this with some fake toy money if you're trying to teach your child about counting money, but it's still a very high-functioning, fun, and realistic toy that my son really enjoys and plays with a lot.
