Our two children received this item for Christmas last year and they ended up breaking most of it in record time. They aren't especially hard on toys, either. They did enjoy the french fries (cluster of them), and chicken nuggets but the cash register wasn't that great, nor sturdy. They also liked the clusters of coins and the credit cards. Great for kids to learn math without knowing it,I would highly reccomend this toy for any child especially those who just can't seem to get the hang of math.My daughter struggles with math and the whole money math so this really was a great gift for her.Definate 2 Thumbs Up !!!!

They still use those. But the rest was thrown away by Spring! It was too broken to use. There were electronic troubles as well as trouble with the plastic pieces themselves.

The toy has name recognition, certainly, for even the youngest children. But, there wasn't much educational value (especially compared to other cash register type toys) and the durability was a serious issue.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good time for your future restauranteur, December 25, 2003

My 6yo son got this toy for Christmas in conjunction with the drive-through set, and while it doesn't fit on the surface of that toy very well, it's a great pretend "restaurant" set-up. I was really amazed that the cash register actually is a working calculator! And of course, little kids love wearing the hat and earpiece - it looks so cute on! The one big complaint I'd have is the quality of the play money. There are 2 sets of one quarter, one dime, and one nickel all glued together, and a fake $1, $5, and $10 bill each. One each! And they're glued to the package and they tear when you try to take them out! The little plastic sundae looked almost good enough to eat! One caveat: Make sure to not lose the key to the cash register drawer, or else it's impossible to lock or unlock it. I recommend supplementing this with some fake toy money if you're trying to teach your child about counting money, but it's still a very high-functioning, fun, and realistic toy that my son really enjoys and plays with a lot.

Especially for a $20-25 toy
my kids liked the concept of the Mcds play register but it was very cheaply made IMO.
the money was too small(bills) or too big (coin group)
the best part of this set was the hat and headset.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dial 'M' for McDonalds, October 29, 2003

My 4 year old nephew thoroughly enjoyed this toy, the fake fries and money keeping him occupied for hours on end... especially when he picked up the phrase "Would you like fries with that?" How we laughed... until he'd said it 10 times in a row which is when we wondered if we had made the right decision in buying this for the little tyke - especially seeing as he was getting more spotty and developing greasy hair!

All in all, it kept him quiet - so 4 stars for that; 1 star from me though as it made us feel old before our years and suddenly realised that this is what he may be doing in 14 years time...

Durable but age endearing!

My 2 1/2 year old son LOVES this toy. He knows it is in grandma's toy box and as soon as we go visit, he runs straight for it and puts the head piece on and just waits for us to tell him what we want. It is good for listening and memory as he awaits our order, and there are enough pieces that you never seem to run out of variations when ordering, and then he presents them on the tray which he calls the table. The pieces are all big enough so there is no danger of choking, and the drawer opening and the noise when you run the credit card through just help make it a little more realistic.

My kids enjoy playing mcdonalds drive through with this, as my sister brought this with another back pack of extra food, needless the say the boxes for the apple pies lasted a few days, the french fries were out of the box, not that they cared, the cartons for the hot cakes get dented and smashed really easily. the food on the other hand last very long, and believe me the kids could care less about boxes as long as the simulation of their favorite fast food restuarant is noticable and they know what it is. So would I buy it, I would, because they are not concerned with the little things we are concerned about, they love the cash register and fake credit card. We have lost the key a dozen times. You might have to hide that. or they won't be able to get in the register.

My 4yr old daughter received this toy for Christmas and she has really enjoyed playing with it. The actual toy is pretty durable but the cash drawer is already not staying closed well if it isn't locked with the key. The paper money is pretty sad, ours also ripped trying to get it out of the package since it was taped on. The coins are fused together, and that doesn't make much sense. However, my daughter loves the hat and headset and takes everyone's order with a smile. The register is also a calculator, so thats cool. She is a bit shy, but has no problem asking everyone around for their order and then fixing up the food. I do wish that it came with more food though rather than having to buy that as well. Its worth the $20 we paid for it.

Purchased this for Christmas this year for my daughter and so far it's turned out to be a great toy. I am hoping that it lasts for awhile anyway, have read some bad reviews. Wasn't too happy with the money though, they could have made that better and not glued it to the box!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best birthday present he got!!, March 14, 2005
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: McDonald's Cash Register (Toy)
I have to say this cash register, and all it's great accessories, were the best presents my son got for his 2nd birthday. We had been looking for a cash register because he was really into things with buttons and that made noises and he knows that McDonald's is the place we go to get fries so it seemed like a great gift for him.

We were right! Once he saw what was under the wrapping paper he had to get everything out of the box and immediately put on the hat and started playing with the walkie talkie and then he got hold of the cash register and started trying to figure out how to open the money part (i did decide to take away the coins and money though just so he wouldn't try to swallow them) and he wanted to find out everything about this toy. He figured out how to make the noise when he zipped the credit card through it and found out that if you push the button on the scanner it lights up and makes a scanning noise. That birthday was in August and it's now mid March and he still plays with this thing at least once a day! For $19.99 you can't beat that.

I gave it 4 stars for durability though because the cover on the money box part came off. Actually I think my son, the destructive 2 year old that he is, ripped it off but I would have liked for it to have been a little more securely attached. But again, it's $19.99 which is a savings of around $20 off the Leap Frog cash register, which we also looked at, and it does a lot more so I'm not too worried about it. Great toy if your child is at the age where they are starting to do pretend play!
