For Shame,

This review is from: Arc the Lad: End of Darkness (Video Game)
I am a huge fan of the Arc The Lad series. I loved the collection and Twilight Of Spirits. After reading the stories about this game, I thought "Oh my god, Arc is being ressurected!" Unfortunately, NO ONE from any of the past games make a big influence in this "Story". Darc and Kharg are gone along with most of the awesome Deimos characters. The cast from 1,2 and 3 return in the form of cards that you battle with. I thought the story line was incredibly stupid. They try to bring back the idea of guilds and hunters from Arc The Lad 2 and 3. It wasn't surprising when the idea fell through. There is no real reason to continue playing after you finish the main storyline except to see Delma and Volk make a two-minute appearence. Even if you are a fan of the series like me, heed my advice and just play twilight of spirits or the collection again and steer clear of this one. For shame Namco, for shame

What happened to the online Function?,
By
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Arc the Lad: End of Darkness (Video Game)
My review on this game: It reminds me of the job based RPG's. Similiar to a random dungeon hack, you must go into dungeons several times to do missions. Although not like mainstream RPG's, i would classify this one similiar to a Mystery Dungeon game, like the ones Pokemon has. The dungeons do change around and the items are different depending on the mission you are doing.
The fact i am writing this is to warn that apparently the online function is no longer functional. I wrote an official letter to "NAMCO" complaining about it. If you would also like to complain about the fact that namco seems to not support it's functionality of it's game anymore, please visit www.BBB.com. This website is the Better Business Bureau. You can report about false advertising about being online. You can pretty much guess that other PS2 games are like this too that claim they are online. What makes me even more mad is NAMCO removed all traces of this game from their website, like there trying to hide it. If you go into their support section they still got help for a part of the water temple though. Sorry NAMCO, but because of this stunt, your company no longer impresses me for not allowing us to use the online features.

Arc the Lad: End of Darkness By: Namco System: PS2 The story intro (taken from the instruction book): Edda's younger days were marked by a boring island life, but his serenity is shattered when he meets a mysterious young woman named Kirika on the beach. After a chance encounter with a hunter, Edda's skill as a full-fledged exorcist awakens, and he becomes a hunter himself, running into Kirika several times throughout his journey, which only heightens his curiosity. Realizing a sense of responsibility to save the weakened world, he sets out on a remarkable journey that will ultimately pit civilization against nature. (Sounds cool, right?) Story: 0/5 I'm sorry, but I was only able to stand 3 hours of this game. The story didn't grab my attention or even hold a mild curiosity to find out what happens next. Sound: 2.5/5 The background music was ok, from what I heard of it. Graphics: 3/5 This game looks great and is this game's major strong point. As we all know, beauty is only skin deep and ugly goes all the way down to the bone! Gameplay: 1/5 I was expecting something similar to "Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits", instead I got a mission/action, hack and slash, dungeon crawler based game that was not very fun to play. Errrrrrr! Not my kind of game! Replay Value: 0/5 Are you kidding! Overall: 1/5 My perspective is from playing the great games like "Arc the Lad: Collection" and "Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits", both of these games are great turn based strategy games with enthralling stories. This Arc the Lad game was a huge let down for me. Run far and fast from this game. Don't waste your money or rental fees on this game! Too sad, really, I had such high hopes for this one.
