5.0 out of 5 stars Easiest and most versatile for the cost
I first stumbled across Arcsoft photo software years ago in 2001 when I was searching for a photo editing program that I could use. I hated Microsoft's software, and needed something that would be fairly inexpensive and easy to use.

Let's face it. Most of us are not professionals, so buying a software that costs several hundred dollars is really overkill...

3.0 out of 5 stars ok for the price
This product is fine for the amount it costs....simple to use...but certainly not the only editing software you could need. It has a couple neat options that I use time to time but have never totally edited a photograph using this software only. I would suggest downloading a few of the free editing programs before buying this product....for me, its simply ok...does not...

I first stumbled across Arcsoft photo software years ago in 2001 when I was searching for a photo editing program that I could use. I hated Microsoft's software, and needed something that would be fairly inexpensive and easy to use.

Let's face it. Most of us are not professionals, so buying a software that costs several hundred dollars is really overkill. This software will work well for any person who wants special effects or just to tweak their photos so they will look better. I won't use any other software now that I've tried others and know what Arcsoft Photostudio can do. If one needs proof, you can see many of my resized pictures at
[...] and look for yourself at how good the pictures come out with just some simple editing.

Arcsoft has proven time and again to be the best photo editing software for the money you pay. You get an easy, intuitive software that makes photo editing a breeze. I like to resize my 12 mp photos (4000 x 3000 dpi) to a more manageable 500dpi or 750 dpi for blogs or my website. The uploads are faster and you can actually make the photo look better.

5.0 out of 5 stars best product I've ever used, March 19, 2009

This review is from: Arcsoft PhotoStudio 5.5 (CD-ROM)
Arcsoft PhotoStudio is the best editing software I have ever used. It is very user-friendly and I am able to accomplish what I set out to do with a minimum of effort, or I can spend hours editing a photo pixel by pixel if I wish. I would recommend this to amateurs and professionals alike. I have used several different brands of photo editing software, and I keep coming back to this one. Save your money and buy the one that works!

five stars

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome software!, May 26, 2008

Arcsoft Photosudio is an awesome software!! It is easy to use and has so many fun options and neat effects to choose from. I've tried other photo editing softwares, but I always come back to Arcsoft. (Sadly I lost it on my last move and had to repurchase it, but it's one I don't want to be without.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Version 5.5 bests version 6, May 15, 2010
This review is from: Arcsoft PhotoStudio 5.5 (CD-ROM)
After using photo studio 5.5 for a couple of years I had to update to Photo Studio 6 after Installing Windows 7. (Win 7 is a must for those using digital photo or camcorder work.) 6.0 is the worst upgrade of any software I have used. It is in cropping that it fails. I crop my 4x3 into 16x9 10x8 and several other precise images. If you don't crop your images then you'll be ok with 6.0.
Pro:
It now displays preview items larger if you're less than full scan. Big Deal!
There are improvements in rotating images and several other minor improvements.
Con:
5.5 right click had these needed commands:
cut, copy, actual view, fit in window, zoom in, and zoom out (but needed crop).
6.0 right click has these needed commands:
crop and zoom to (which is in percentage and not as useful, will not display fit in window.DUMB.)
5.5 when you select image using left click, size of image is shown in position box.
6.0 position box removed which makes it harder to crop images. WHY? DUMB! For my use, this was a disaster! 5.5 is 5 stars and 6.0 is 2 stars.
If you do not have Windows 7, then you will find 5.5 is a great basic program and at $17.95 on Amazon lots of bang for the buck. Windows 7 users will pay $ 74.99. Go elsewhere.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cheap and not broke, October 19, 2009
This review is from: Arcsoft PhotoStudio 5.5 (CD-ROM)
I got a early version (PhotoMAX) of this bundled with my very first Polaroid digital camera back in 2000; seven cameras later, I still find myself using this software about once a week.

I've used more advanced photo editors (including Photoshop, which I used at work for awhile) but the Arcsoft product is still the one I prefer for common tasks. It's a good choice if you aren't into specialized plug-ins: cheap, easy to master and reasonably complete.

The newer version I have (5.4) has more advanced features such as layering, but unfortunately its blending algorithm doesn't work as well as in the earlier PhotoMAX version -- it streaks annoyingly from the darker shade, which destroys the intended effect. For this reason I use both versions, depending on what I need to do.

4.0 out of 5 stars ArcSoft Photo Studio 5.5 on Windows 7, June 21, 2011
This review is from: Arcsoft PhotoStudio 5.5 (CD-ROM)
I upgraded my OS to Windows 7 64 bit. My new Windows 7 says ArcSoft Photo Studio is not compatible with the new OS. After a search for a solution, the OS forwaded me to an ArcSoft webpage, but I still don't have a solution.
