Panorama Maker 5 cannot be used on Mac computers running OS X 10.8.3 or higher. In earlier versions of Mac OS X, Panorama Maker 5 for Mac does one image processing task very well: accurately and seamlessly joining images.

This deceptively simple capability made Panorama Maker a very good niche product. Mac users who need to make photographic panoramas or to create digital copies of oversize documents found good use for it.

Fellow fans of the PhotoShop Creative Suite of software - the powerhouse of digital imagery processing, which does many tasks well - will know that Photoshop has its own built-in panorama-making capability: the File/Automate/Photomerge command. However, Photomerge has had a very high error rate, often misaligning seams of joined images. It has been difficult or impossible to correct Photomerge alignment errors. I have noted such Photomerge errors at least through to PhotoShop CS5. Adobe Photoshop CS6 for Mac [Download], to which I upgraded in December 2012, has a lower error rate and improved controls in Photomerge: so far I have found that several test panoramas impossible to join accurately in CS5 will join up correctly in CS6. This includes a reprocessing of the image of Toledo attached here as a customer image to demonstrate Panorama Maker's accuracy.

Panorama Maker is generally very accurate in automatically choosing correct alignment of seams of adjoining images. It also has easy and intuitive manual adjustment.

None of the examples I have attached as customer images could be accurately joined up by Photoshop Photomerge prior to CS6.

This software makes truly seamless panoramas--even when I haven't shot in full manual mode with identical settings for each exposure. Far beyond other panorama products I have used.

When I tried to use it on my iMac it froze up. I tried to re-install it but it still froze up. I called ArcSoft support and he said it was not compatible with iPhoto
