I was a bit hesitant to pick up this mini. 5 in 1 Arcade Hits isn't generally my type of game. Once I loaded it up and started to test the different games I knew I wouldn't regret my purchase. As should be clear by the title, there are five different games.
-Pairs > This is more commonly called memory. There are a bunch of cards face down and you have to flip two over and find matches. Two player mode lets you pass the psp around via round robin. There are also various difficulty levels. Easy mode features simple images. Normal mode has the cards numbered so if you flip over the number 7 you have to find the other 7. Hard mode features symbols that appear similar. -15 Puzzle > This is a single player game and one I was excited to try. When I was younger I used to play this on little plastic boards with numbers that you slide around with one open spot to put them in the correct order from 1 to 15. Same concept on this mini. Normal mode abandons the numbering system and introduces a simple image. Hard mode uses a more complex picture. -Pool > Pool is played from a birds eyed view which features single or two player. Two player mode is played as round robin where you pass the psp from player to player. The game play is made simple with arrows showing where each ball will go. You can also adjust the power of the hit which adds some challenge. -Solitaire > This is a classic adaption of solitaire with some smooth controls. The nice addition here is you can simply press the Triangle button on cards that are ready to be discarded and they instantly vanish to the pile above. Other than that there's nothing new here. It's solitaire after all with Easy or Hard mode. (What? No normal mode or multiplayer!? lol) -Tetroid > Tetroid is a lot of fun and can be addictive in short spurts. Tetroid is almost two games in one itself. Single mode is like a classic brick breaker game where you scroll a platform across the bottom of the screen to keep a ball from falling below. All the while you're breaking a variety of blocks in multiple patterns. The thing I like about this is you can hold the psp system in any direction which can mix it up. Also the bricks slowly creep to the bottom which forces you to break the lowest hanging bricks first, or suffer the game over screen. Two player mode closely emulates Pong. One player holds the directional pad end of the psp and the other player holds the end with the shape buttons. In addition to Pong style bouncing the ball back and forth, there are bricks that scroll across the middle of the screen. With all of these games, the thing that keeps you coming back for more is high scores and an award system to unlock the bronze, silver and gold medal. Another important aspect of 5-in-1 Arcade Hits is that my three year old son loves to play Tetroid and Pairs with me.

Got the game on time and in good condition. I enjoyed it and find time to sit down and play the various games. Though, I do play pool alot more than any other it is a decent game for killing time,(while time is killing you) and the medal system is basic but kinda a nice perk. I only have one small gripe, the game doesn't allow you to put spin on the cue ball. But I still play alot of pool. Solitare's great too. I would recommend, it's cheap.
