I have always been a fan of tetris I was lucky enough to get teh Tengen 2 player Version on the old NES before it was pulled in favor to the NES standard version. but my nes isn't that reliable after 16 years so i wasreally excited when I saw this set in the box. Most of the plug and plays are pretty good and the images looked like the original game I loved. here is the downside - joystick block is difficult to maneuver the pieces and is way too touchy, also this version lacks a standard simultaneous play mode only battle ( where your mulitple line sets are added to your opponents stack) or timed where you need to be the first one to complete a set # of lines. I wish I hadn't bought it. So I'll keep trying.

Take it from me---this is a good reproduction of the original, it even has the original music! The little calm piece---that plays in the puzzle stage? Is actually by Johann Sebastian Bach, it is the menuet from the 3rd French Suite in B minor!

Anyway I digress. This version of Tetris is better than the "new" ones such as "Tetris Worlds". I don't think you could even start on a higher difficulty level in that game, so experts like me were bored to death by it!

Not this game! No matter what your level of skill or past experience with Tetris---rank beginner, seasoned veteran like me who even knows what the music is from, it is VERY addicting and extremely fun. It is also very fun to play with others.

I think the first reviewer bought a different product, because it does indeed have the two player battle mode where it stacks up completed lines on the other person's screen, just like the Game Boy version.

My only complaint is that sometimes one can stumble---the play control is indeed very touchy. It can be kind of frustrating sometimes, because you'll want to move a block only one grid line over and it moves two instead. Even just gently tapping the control stick will cause this at times! Oh well...its still incredibly fun for the amount you pay for it. I hope maybe in the future they'll release a new edition of it that has tighter play control.

I bought this for my mother for xmas and she absolutly loved it! Untill it decided to malfunction. A few weeks after I bought it, the controllers started acting up. First, pushing down on the stick would make it go left. After I decided to take it apart and try to fix it, I found that the rubber flexy thing used to complete circuits had broken. I attempted to use super glue to try to fix it. It worked after that for a while. Now it's decided to break again. Whenever you would push down on the stick, it would go down, but also to the left again.

This was exretemely furstrating. It was fun while it lasted though.

As for the other review, mine did seem to have battle mode where you'd send your opponent your lines if you cleared 2 or more. And it also had a timed mode for clearing a certain # of lines... Maybe he didn't have the other controller plugged in all the way, because it disables two player if it doesn't sense the other controller.

If I had the choice, I wouldn't buy this again.
