Rip Off,
By A Customer
This review is from: Skies of Arcadia Legends (Prima's Official Strategy Guide) (Paperback)
The person selling this used book ($59 for a $15 book) is a rip off! Go to PRIMA GUIDES on-line and order an e-download for about $10. Screw profiteers!!!

not worth anyone's time,
By
This review is from: Skies of Arcadia Legends (Prima's Official Strategy Guide) (Paperback)
This guide was useless. The story of the game is pretty straightforward as is and does not require a guidebook to help anyone. The only reason a person, like myself, would be interested in such a purchase would be if they could not find the missing discoveries. The book does not list any of these within its bindings. Waste of money.

Skies of Arcadia - The Informative Review,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Skies of Arcadia Legends (Prima's Official Strategy Guide) (Paperback)
I loved Skies of Arcadia when it first came out on the Dreamcast, and many people who have played it are skeptical on whether or not to pick up the GC port. To sum it up, I think its worth playing again, and there are enough extra features to keep you going the second time through. Now for the strategy guide. As for everything non-sidequest related, this book does it quite well. Only once can I remember there being a major mistake (by that i mean a mistake that doesn't involve an occasional missed chest or something minor like that), and that is in the Dark Rift. You'll probably figure out the mistake soon enough, as it involves taking the wrong 'vortex' but this should have been cleared up. I fortunately knew about this mistake before I got to the Dark Rift, but some people won't and it will probably lead to alot of confusion. So I'll give a 9/10 just on the main walkthrough. Now for the sidequests... Concerning the Bounty Hunting sidequest, this walkthrough could have been better. Yes, it lists the names of the pirates, but you do not know where to find them. I was forced to consult another online guide for more information on this. Concerning the chams and moonfish, this guide does it pretty well, and lists all the locations. The Discoveries are all listed and there, with brief explanations on how to get them, but (maybe its just me) I still found myself consulting another guide for a few discoveries in hopes of a more detailed explanation. However, this was easily offset by the map Prima included, which contained every discovery, so if you were wondering if a discovery was on the north or south side of grid 6,3 for example, you could check the map and it'd be right there. This was a pretty welcome addition. Crew Members... hmmm... these were done shoddily. As with the bounty hunting, this guide lists the locations of crew members, but explanations are not given for some. For example, the guide doesn't mention that you need to talk to Hans, then leave and talk to him again in order to recruit him. It's little things like that which really lower the score in the sidequests area. I will give the sidequests portion of the guide a 6/10. All in all, Prima constructed a good guide. I wanted to give this guide a 5/5 stars since I love the game so much, but unfortunately it just misses in a few key areas. If you love doing sidequests in games like I do, you'll probably be consulting an online guide for the occasional additional help. -Joseph

Useful, but not 100%,
This review is from: Skies of Arcadia Legends (Prima's Official Strategy Guide) (Paperback)
Pros:
- Detailed walkthrough - Good images - Decent info about most of the game, including Crew members, weapons, armor, attacks and magic attack Cons: - No maps - One page in the enemy section is mixed up - Not enough enemy info - No info on most sidequest

I can't believe this guide is selling for 100 dollars,

This review is from: Skies of Arcadia Legends (Prima's Official Strategy Guide) (Paperback)
One of the mysteries of life. How can a substandard strategy guide for a game that most people have never heard of sell for 100 plus dollars? I lucked out on E-bay, and bought the game and guide together for 45 dollars. But my friend has been searching endlessly on ebay, amazon, and all over the net for this stupid guide and has yet to find it at a reasonable price. One of the third party sellers he found tried to sell it for 700 dollars!! What the hell is going on?
At any rate, this guide is probably worth 10 dollars. There are all sorts of errors in the walkthrough, grammatical errors throughout, and they don't even tell you everything a guide should, like the location of all the hidden treasures and items. Sure, it tells you where to find the discoveries, but anyone can find that information in greater detail on the web. Certainly I can sympathize for the gamers who discovered that Skies of Arcadia is probably one of the most underated games for the gamecube, but if these high priced sellers are tempting you, don't even think about it. You won't even be able to afford the gun and bullets required to off yourself once you realize the stupidity of your purchase.

Prima's Worst Strategy Guide,
By A Customer
This review is from: Skies of Arcadia Legends (Prima's Official Strategy Guide) (Paperback)
Skies of Arcadia Legends: Prima's Official Strategy Guide is horrible. The information is not only incomplete, but incorrect. The author even mispelled many words and made up many more! The first impression of quality is soon lost when reading the first paragraph. Prima ussually writes very good and in depth strategy guides, ussually. For this one ignor Prima's good reputation and dont make the mistake of bying it.

I would also like to add a nother mistake made by the guide. During the second boulder chase in the red moon stone temple, the guide tells to to take a left turn to a chest, but instead it tells you to take a right... Not good. Guides should be solid with no errors. The depth of the guide aint too great either. If Brady Games were to do the guide, it would have been much better.

This review is from: Skies of Arcadia Legends (Prima's Official Strategy Guide) (Paperback)
I thought i was seeing things when i seen this book advertised for $399.99. This is a 'VIDEO GAME/STATEGY GUIDE',NOT A 1ST EDITION COPY OF 'SHAKESPEER'S "HAMLET"' OR ANY OF THE GREATEST 'LITERARY' WORK'S OF THE PAST CENTURY!!! WHAT KIND OF 'NUT' WOULD BUY (OR TRY TO SELL...FOR THAT MATTER) a 'VIDEO GAME STRAREGY GUIDE FOR $400.00??? I am a 'HUGE' Gamer and a collecter of all things that have to do with 'PC & CONSOLE' GAMES, but there is no way in 'THIS LIFE TIME OR ANY OTHER' that i would pay the kind of COMPLETELY "OUTRAGOUS' price that this seller is asking for. WORD TO THE WISE TO THIS SELLER:' LAY OFF THE CRACK COCAINE'.........................

Fun but Hard,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Skies of Arcadia Legends (Prima's Official Strategy Guide) (Paperback)
This game is one of the best games out there. It is so fun and there are so many places to explore. The only reason I didn't give the game 5 stars is because it is VERY hard at certain points. Most of the time i have to heve my friend help me. I have already been stuck at the Exectioner and now I am stuck at the 2 rock people with the crystals in their head, while looking for Draact's treasure. I wish they had made it just a little easier.

Another Statigy guide,
By
This review is from: Skies of Arcadia Legends (Prima's Official Strategy Guide) (Paperback)
I don't have this guide yet, but I am a sort of Statigy guide nut, I bought the Super Smash Bros. Melee stratigy guide a year before I even got a game cube!Any way I usually perfer Prima guides to other companies, they tend to be more detailed. My advice is If you buy a game, buy its stratigy guide. |
