Best Jack for the Money,
By D. Redwood (Seattle) - See all my reviews

This review is from: Arcan Quick Lift Professional Service Jack - 3 1/2-Ton, Model# XL35 (Misc.)
I must confess that I bought this jack directly from Northern Tool for $149.99 because I either missed seeing it on Amazon.com or I inadvertently didn't consider it because of the lack of reviews on Amazon.com. This jack is too good not to have a review so I added my review. (Due to a glitch in the website, the review format for toys came up. This certainly is no toy).
Jacking up the car used to be the worse part of changing the wheels and brakes on my cars. All the previous jacks I've used were very awkward and difficult to use, and took too much time to jack up the car. Also, they were not very stable, so I was concerned about them toppling over if I wasn't careful enough. These included scissor jacks, bottle jacks, bumper jacks, and cheap floor jacks. I finally decided to get a good floor jack. After a doing a lot of research on floor jacks, I bought the Arcan XL35 Quick Lift Jack. What a difference this jack made! Now jacking up the car is very easy and quick to do and is now an enjoyable experience instead of a chore. This jack will lift up the entire front end of the car, or the entire rear end of the car, quicker than my other jacks could lift up one wheel. It takes less than 2 minutes, from start to finish, to jack up the entire rear end or front end of a car. Now I jack up the car just to show others how quick and easy it is to do. Even my teenage daughter quickly and easily jacked up the entire rear end of her car to change her summer wheels to winter wheels. I was reluctant at first to buy this jack due to its 100 lb weight. But now I view its heavy weight as an asset rather than a hindrance. In spite of its weight, it rolls easily around the garage floor. This jack is very strong, super heavy-duty, very sturdy, and built to last many years. Also this jack is very stable. It would be difficult for this jack to topple over. I believe its wide stance, low center of gravity, and weight contribute to its superior stability. The outstanding design and build quality of this jack is very evident by its looks and by its operation. This low-profile jack is really low profile. The jack is low at 3½ inches minimum height, and stays low from the lift pad to near its rear wheels. On some jacks, the lift arm sits higher than the lift pad at the mid point between the lift pad and rear wheels (this can be seen in the photos). This limits how far the jack can go under the front of some low-suspension cars without the arm hitting against the car frame (or spoiler) beneath the front bumper. Due to its low profile, this jack can be stored under a rollaway toolbox when not in use, with only the handle and rear wheels protruding from under the toolbox. Its maximum lift height of 21-3/8 inches, along with its 3½-ton lift capability makes it very capable of lifting large size pickup trucks and SUVs. Many other low-profile jacks, and some SUV jacks, do not have this high lift height and weight capability. In other words, this jack can handle any vehicle you can throw at it; big SUVs, large pickup trucks, vans, standard sized cars, compact cars, sports cars, cars with low suspensions, garden tractors and lawn mowers. This jack does it all, and does it easily and quickly. Due to its weight, I do not recommend picking up this jack and carrying it around unless there are two people to carry this jack. If you will mainly use this jack at one location, and don't plan to transport this jack from place to place, this is the best jack to have. The quality, capability, ease of use and price of this jack cannot be beat. I am very happy with this jack! I now look forward to changing the wheels and brakes on my cars, as it is now so quick and easy to do. It is now quicker and faster to change all 4 wheels on a car in my garage than it is to drive to the Les Schwab tire store.

Monster Jack,

This is a monster jack. Its very low, which is what I needed for low sports car I have, and also has a nice rubber pad on the cradle. The dual pumps lift quickly and the valve for lowering is very very smooth. I had a lesser 2 ton floor jack that although pretty new leaked down and would not hold a load, and would drop it when you tried to lower. The padded pump arm is nice touch, and the arm is longer than most to give added leverage. Paint and finish were very good. It lifts as high or higher than competitive jacks.
The downside is that this is constructed of a lot of heavy steel and is HEAVY. I am on a race team and we have transported this a few times and it can barely be lifted by one person. For the price you can't beat it.

Something about lifting thousands of pounds of weight off the ground just makes me want a heavy duty jack.
{don't you think }, after looking at several different brands i sure was glad to find the arcan 3/1/2 ton quicklift low profile jack. it fits under just about anything, lifts quickly and with 7000 lb. capacity you can pretty much lift anything this side of a rv. downside if there is one is the fact it is heavy. not the one you want to tote all over town. other than that, a well built floor jack at a great price. very happy with purchase!! buy one you wont regret it!!
