Sets a new standard for concert dvds,
This review is from: Live Apocalypse (DVD)
The main concert footage was taken when Chris Amott was still in the band. The audio and video quality are way beyond any music dvd I have ever seen. This should come as no suprise, as Arch Enemy is known for giving its fans alot of bang for their buck. Includes additional concert footage on disc 1, although it's not an entire show. Not enough space on just one disc. Disc 2 consists of all videos Arch Enemy has released since Angela joined, to include alternate versions. 2 different documentaries are included with no commentary, really, just set to an AE tune. A slide show (a staple in special features)and a very extensive interview section are included. Aside from an indirect comment in the interview section about world politics, I found this package to be flawless. I just wish politics were not such a part of culture.

...Just WOW ! I thought I had seen it all when i saw the Dream theater at Budokan DVD...killer live performance, great visual and audio recording, tons of entertaining extra's...evrything,but this DVD beats the Budokan one. There is not a single weak track here...Killer riffs, mindblowing solo's and most of all DANIEL ERLANDSON ...all captured in superb cinematic angles and crisp sound. The bonus disc is fun,esp the candid interviews bit...Sharlee is a funny guy,Angela comes across as a very warm and intense person...all in all,its a blast.

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,
This review is from: Arch Enemy: Live Apocalypse (DVD)
What can I say. It's Arch Enemy! This dvd is sick and brutal! The live stuff is killer and the camera work is great! Arch Enemy can really whip a crowd into a frenzy! Anyone who has seen them live in person will tell you that! Including myself, I have had the honor of witnessing the destruction three times. I just got it so I haven't checked everything out yet, but I'm sure it's sick! The live stuff alone is well worth it. But this dvd has more for you. Interviews, life on the bus, touring, videos and so on. This dvd is better than slayer's dvd, War at the Warfield! Don't believe me? Get this and see for yourself. You won't be able to stop banging your head. All hail the ENEMY! Buy it, Buy it, Buy it, Buy it, Buy it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pure f***in' metal,

Whoever thinks that a metal band should not be fronted by a woman is either very close-minded or got his butt whooped by a woman, or both. Arch Enemy is a good example of a band with a frontwoman who can hold her own onstage, and knows how to whip the crowd into a frenzy while the music just rips their heads off. The extras are plentyful as you get interviews, behind the scenes of the making of the My Apocalypse video, behind the scenes tour footage, music videos, and even footage of drummer Daniel Erlandsson and guitarist Michael Amott discussing the gear they use. The main concert itself however is what makes this worth getting. The sound is just simply amazing. Every riff, cymbal, bass hit, etc. is crystal clear. Note that when Andy Sneap is involved in recording and/or mixing processes for cd's and dvd's, most likely it's gonna be sick. I can't stress that enough. He adds a bit of grittyness to recordings and makes it sound brutal. Arch Enemy fans won't be disappointed.

Arch Enemy, one of my all-time favourite bands, have outdone themselves with their first DVD outing. The band are on top with this "Swedish Apocalypse", keeping the powerful melodic death metal anthems coming. Angela Gossow is simply one of the most fantastic vocalists ever, and she shows us exactly why here, she's just relentless the whole way through (especially nailing the deep growls like a beast). As for Chris, Mike and Daniel (and even Sharlee), there's nothing more to be said. The guys are all musical prodigys, and it shows when it's solo time.
This DVD contains just about everything you could want - a vicious live performance with DTS audio that'll crack your skull and eardrums, some fresher performances added onto that, all the music videos (at that time - including an alternate director's cut of Nemesis), really solid interviews with the band and some fun touring segments. There's even a little poster to hang up on your wall (at the time of writing, mine's still up there). See why Arch Enemy are the reigning kings of modern death metal - their skill and impact is never less prevalent than here, and this is all BEFORE the fantastic album Rise of the Tyrant. The DVD is packed, the audio and video quality is simply killer and this is ultimately one of, if not The, best live show you'll ever see on DVD.

If you like live metal dvd's you will love this. sound is perfect. the camera movement is just right. I hate when the camera is all over the place moving so fast you get dizzy. this dvd does not do that.
angela gassow is amazing you won't believe how crushing her vovcals are the rest of the band it goes without saying how talented they are one of the best live dvd's i have seen. and I collect these so worth it

Capture the shows on DVD,

I've seen Arch Enemy 3 times and they've always been awsome to see live. This DVD captures their energetic performances that they've brought to the crowd yet you get to see it in different angles all over the place whereas a regular standing show would be seeing it from only the front in certain places - quite limited. I feel that the DVD captures how they are up close and I love that. If you're into Arch Enemy live then this is a DVD for you!
