I had this as my main text for a class at Foothill college and it was a relatively easy read if you use the glossary. Their could have been more pictures of the items discussed and I would recommend to any teacher thinking of using this book to gather some more higher quality pictures of the items discussed for the student to look at.

Excellent book,

As a professor and an archaeologist, I hope those people reading this review take it a little more serious than the reviews from students citing it as "boring." It is a text book about the very technical, scientific field of archaeology, so I wouldn't recommend it as light Saturday reading. But if you are looking for a text for an intro archaeology class, this is the one.
I had this book from my undergraduate career, but when it came time to chose a book for my own archaeology class, I chose not to use it. Big mistake. I chose one that I felt would be more interesting for the students to read. But I found myself constantly referencing this book because the one I selected just didn't have that level of detail I was looking for. Not to mention, the fact that this book is organized according to the actual steps of archaeological research makes it even more valuable to an introductory class. I will certainly be switching to this book when I teach this course again next year. And to those who wish it had more pictures, college is characterized by learning, which generally involves reading. Picture books are relegated to the first grade. If you feel that deprived, do a Google image search.

This book is really boring. The only cool thing about it was that it referenced my teacher who taught my class. Other than that I thought it was mind-numbingly awful.

I used this book to fulfill my random GE, it was such a dull class and reading was so painful. Honestly, I was never interested in the subject so you don't have to take my word for it.
