Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Although the contents of this edited volume are a result of research conducted 30 years ago, the information contained therein is still relevant and useful. The Archaic period of the Midwest saw great changes in environment, population size, settlement and subsistance patterns, and site locations. This volume deals with these changes in turn, offering insightful interpretations that still ring true today. The chapters that discuss the Koster and Black Earth sites, in my opinion, offer contributions to understanding the Archaic period that are hard to eclipse. This volume offers an excellent regional approach to Archaic variability and change, and will be a useful reference on the subject for any interested parties.
