I bought this book and began working with it and immediately began having dreams and miracles manifest in my life. I can truly say this book is amazing and I am recommending it to everyone I can. It's very easy to read. You don't need to buy any special things to work with it. The invocations work.
The only thing I don't really like is her paragraph chapter explaining away the pantheon of gods and goddesses as just expressions of One God which in my mind is done purely to appease the Christian Right Wing from getting all up in arms
about her book. That may be her real opinion and that's fine, but I felt it was pandering to a vocal group in this country who are very intimidated by anything they don't agree with as a way
to inoculate them from seeing this book as a threat to
the established Christian One God belief which I do not ascribe.

Otherwise the actual book's descriptions of the various powerful beings is explained and de-mystified. She explains how all our needs, no matter how small, can be addressed with these powerful beings.
So far in two weeks I used the book to heal two major issues I had with two people in my life (within days and weeks). I received incredibly clarity through dreams and third party interventions out of the blue. Also I used the book to begin to manifest work I absolutely love and to create miracles daily.
Everyone needs this book on their shelf. I read the entire thing in a few hours and after noting nearly every page with a piece of paper I began to work with 10 to 20 invocations per night. I am absolutely astounded at how well this book works.

Buy this book. Use this book. You will not be sorry. I have never found anything that worked so well so fast except Florence Scovel Shinn's books including "The Game of Life and How to Play It".

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fabulous and Comprehensive Book!, May 14, 2003
This book is a pure delight for anyone interested in receiving spiritual help and support from archangels and ascended masters. It has an easy-to-read format, which the reader can use as a reference tool again and again when seeking spiritual assistance. I have had wonderful experiences and results from working with the spiritual helpers listed in the book, and I'm very grateful to the author for researching and compiling the wealth of information contained in its' pages. I especially enjoy using the book as an oracle tool, by opening it up to a random page to see who is assisting me. I find the information on each spiritual helper specific and helpful to unbderstanding his or her role in helping the planet heal. This book deserves true accolades!

5.0 out of 5 stars My Favorite...., April 9, 2003
By A Customer
I have read most of Doreen's books - she is one of my absolute favorite authors. I just received this book in the mail yesterday, and I can definitely say it has become one of my most prized possessions. If you enjoy working with your Angels - this book is a must have. Although it is set up in dictionary / encyclopedia format, it in no way feels like you are reading an encyclopedia. The first part of the book goes through each Deity individually - listing name, origin, and biographical story about that specific person. Then it tells you what areas of life this deity works with, as well as an invocation to use. The second half of the book lists specific life problems in alphabetical order. Under each issue are all deities in the book that help with that specific issue. There is also a section of prayers that you can use to invoke several of the deities at once - for a specific issue. This book is comprehensive - and emits an amazingly loving feel. Just perfect!

5.0 out of 5 stars Doreen Virtue helps Humanity Connect to the Divine, January 20, 2004

This book is a gift in respect to a 'who's who' in the Higher realms, and how each Divine being of Light is here to assist you with specific help. Each page shares what each Divine being's 'main' purpose is, regarding their specialty. I found that when I invoked the Angel concerning specific areas, my call was instantaneously answered! I 'felt' their presence, love, and found wonderful resolution during sleep, where upon waking up, I felt burdens lifted, and answers illuminating my mind with newfound clarity, and a feeling of "'Lightness' within.
I love Doreen's analogy in the book to the TV show 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire' with respect to the 'phone a friend' who is an expert to answer a specific question.
Now, you can 'call an Angel, or a Divine being of Light' that is an 'expert with specific issues.
We are all helped, whether we realize it or not. I LOVE the practical use of this book, and how much it really works! It was done with exhaustive research, and the finished product will vastly improve your life, as long as you ASK for help.
Recommended from my heart,
Barbara Rose, author of "Stop Being the String Along: A Relationship Guide to Being THE ONE" and 'If God Was Like Man'
Editor of inspire! magazine

4.0 out of 5 stars Uplifting but all over the place, January 21, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Archangels and Ascended Masters (Paperback)
This book has a lovely vibration and it will leave you uplifted. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that just like other material I read from Doreen - it is all over the place and and incomplete. Here's what I mean. She has attempted to put in this book someone from just about every imaginable tradition, but if you are involved with any of these traditions, you'll wonder what happened to the other guys and girls. So, you'll find a variety of archangels and ascended masters. Then there's a mishmash of deities from different religions - they seemd to have been just randomnly picked up. For example, out of 8 Famous Taoist Immortals - one is mentioned here. From India you'll find Ganesha, Lakshmi, and of all the other choices - there's Kali (careful there, you may be mightily surprised with the effects of working with Kali). Shiva would've been a better choice. A good suggestion from esoteric circles is that you should work with the energies (and entities) that resonate with you and that you are acquainted with on a deeper level. There is always an exchange of energy in the universe and the price you pay for favors granted may not always be what you expected.

You'll find a handful of Roman, Greek, Egyptian, Hindu, Celtic, British, Irish, Welsh - as well as sainths and mythical characters from literature (yap, even Guinevere found her honorable place here).

If you've ever worked with an entire pantheon of deities from any tradition, you'd be aware that each has distinctly different vibrations. You'll also get the most out of working with any of them through great devotion and deepening of connection with that particular deity's or archangel's energy. This book is as if it were written for dabblers - for people who'd like to have a little bit of taste of everything, but not commit to anything, or who are yet to discover what resonates with them.

As far as pagan deities are involved in this book, I can only imagine that if you are involved in practicing any of those religions or esoteric systems - Kaballah, Alchemy (western or Taoist), Greek or Roman or Egyptian or Celtic or any other group of energies, deities and archetypes in a well-structured format, for the purpose of gaining some deeper connection and insights from that particular tradition, this book will leave you wondering where's the rest.

2.0 out of 5 stars Channeled information and living cultures, May 2, 2006
By
R Morrell (United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Archangels and Ascended Masters (Paperback)
I enjoy this book the least out of Dr. Virtue's books. There is a tension between her 'channeled' sources, some of which conflict with published and oral traditions of a living culture. I am referring to her description of the goddess Pele in Hawaiian culture. There are many versions of the myth, but all of them contain substantially the same information. Hi'iaka i ka poli a Pele, for example, is Pele's younger sister, nourished by her in her armpit, not her older sister as Dr. Virtue writes. Pele is also not a goddess of fire, but of the volcano. There are so many mistakes in this description and it is disrespectful to the Hawaiians, who are custodians of a vibrant and sacred culture. I received my Ph.D. in Hawaiian culture a few years ago, and channel myself, hunalight.com so realize this is a uniquely sensitive topic. When I contacted her editor with the mistakes, I didn't even receive the courtesy of a reply, although she admitted she received the mail. Surely the editor should be working with Dr. Virtue in checking the information for future editions? It is distressing, and disrespectful, when these mistakes aren't acknowledged and makes me wonder about the goddesses I am not so familiar with and sadly the book itself has lost credibility for me... Dr. Virtue is doing an important job in getting inspirational messages out to the world, surely the publisher should be working with her to review any genuine mistakes?

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have if you Believe in Angels!, May 28, 2003
By A Customer
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is just the book I have been looking for! If you believe in angels or higher entities, then this is the perfect book. It is written in plain lanquage so it is easy for the average reader to understand, unlike some new age/metaphysical books. It is also helpful that there is an index that breaks everything down according to specific categories, such as which angels help with employment, finances or romance. You will NOT be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Resource, June 6, 2005
This review is from: Archangels and Ascended Masters (Paperback)
"No matter what happens, the archangels and ascended masters will be with us. No one can take them away from us! And that's one more reason why it's wise for lightworkers to become familiar with the various divinities, and to be aware of the special gifts they offer. In the future, these Divinities will prove to be valuable allies (just as they are in the present)." - Doreen Virtue

Who is Saint-Germain? What about Vywamus? Can goddesses, gods, archangels, and ascended masters really connect on a personal level? For what purposes can I invoke a deity?

Angel therapist Doreen Virtue answers these questions and many more in Archangels and Ascended Masters - A Guide to Working and Healing with Divinities and Deities. After researching 77 divinities, personally verifying their accessibility and integrity, Virtue has compiled her findings and experiences in a lively encyclopedic format.

For those unfamiliar with ascended masters, Virtue explains that these ones are great prophets, healers or teachers that once walked upon the earth and are now in the spirit world helping humanity from beyond. Ascended masters include Jesus, Buddha, Yogananda, Mother Mary, and Saint Padre Pio. Virtue asserts that she isn't promoting polytheism or the worship of divinities. Rather, archangels, deities, and ascended masters represent the various faces that one God presents to us, and we work in partnership with these aspects of God for insight and healing.

In Part 1 of Archangels and Ascended Masters, Virtue lists the originating culture, country, and/or spiritual system, as well as their alternative names. She then gives a brief historical summary of each archangel or deity, a channeled message or impression, what each helps with, and an invocation. Many of the channeled messages were conducted at power points throughout the world including Stonehenge in England and the Kona coast of Hawaii.

Part 2 of the book features invocations for specific needs and issues, such as abundance, addictions and cravings, courage, find your life's purpose, healing a pet, weight loss, and global peace. Part 3 provides a list of whom to call upon for specific needs. For example, if you were in need of help regarding parenting, you can consult with Dana, Hathor, Ishtar, or Mother Mary. For insight into working with crystals, Merlin, Melchizedek, or Saint-Germain would provide valuable insight. Isolt helps with healing from divorce, while Pele helps with clear communication and prioritizing. Archangel Haniel aids in poise, Saint Therese protects pilots and airline crew, and Maeve works wonders with aromatherapy.

This 243 book wasn't intended to be an exhaustive treatment of archangels, ascended masters, gods, and goddesses. Rather, it's an introduction to spiritual facilitators spanning Greek, Roman, Egyptian, Asian, Celtic, Theosophical, Cabalistic, New Age, Christian, Jewish, Catholic, Tibetan, Babylonian, and Buddhist roots. Archangels and Ascended Masters can be used to acquaint yourself with new spirit helpers, or for deepening your experience with those familiar to you. You can even use this book as an oracle by saying a prayer or voicing your concern, then opening the book to see which spiritual helper has some insight for you.

My favorite way to use this book is in conjunction with Virtue's Goddess Guidance Oracle Cards. Every time I choose a card from the Goddess Guidance deck, I am amazed at the pointed and accurate the wisdom conveyed by a particular goddess. I then put the card on a small altar I have on a bookshelf in my bedroom, and "work" with that particular goddess until I feel to join with another. For further information about a goddess, I then turn to Archangels and Ascended Masters for clarification and additional insight.

If you're curious about the spirit realm and the help available to you, this book will provide a solid starting point for your journey. Archangels and Ascended Masters is an engaging read, and Virtue's personal warmth and appreciation for the various deities shines through. Providing comfort, imparting insight, and granting joy are among the many gifts waiting for humanity from these special unseen others.

5.0 out of 5 stars Who's Who of the Spiritual World, April 22, 2007

This review is from: Archangels and Ascended Masters (Paperback)
This is more like an encyclopedia of Who's Who in the spiritual world. As you've probably read, Doreen Virtue is a clairvoyant doctor of psychology who works with angels, archangels, ascended masters and the elementals. The book lists 77 of these and it is non-discriminatory. There are beings listed who are Christian, Jewish, New Age, Babylonia, Catholic, Celtic, etc.

So, let's say you heard about "Saint-Germain" in your readings and want to know just who he is. Page 153 to 156 explains all about him, including that he is NOT a saint in the Catholic sense and should not be confused with Saint Germaine Cousin or Saint Germanus, who ARE Catholic saints. Anyway, it tells you all abou him. It continues by giving a list of what he helps with (psychic protection, life purpose, courage, direction, etc.) Then it gives a suggested invocation/prayer.

Like said, there are 77 of these. A few at random are: Moses (Judeo-Christian), Sanat Kumara (Hindu, Vedic, New Age), Maat (Egypt), Merlin (Celtic), Melchizedek (Judaism, New Age), Sedna (Inuit/Eskimo), Archangel Uriel (Judeo-Christian), and many more. There are several indexes in the back to look up the way you want to. You can also look up "global peace" or "protection for musicians".

5.0 out of 5 stars Angelic and Ascended Master Reference Guide, August 25, 2005
This review is from: Archangels and Ascended Masters (Paperback)
This book is much different from anything else I've read by Doreen Virtue, as it's mostly a reference guide. You don't have to actually sit down and read the entire book from cover to cover to get something out of it.

Part 1 covers the Archangels and Ascended Masters. It has a wonderful variety of angels and masters to choose from that are from different cultures and gives a nice description of each angel and master. She also gives a brief channeled message from each angel and master. Part 2 has invocations for specific needs and issues, which can be very helpful if you are having trouble coming up with your own prayers or spells. Part 3 is a list of whom to call upon for specific needs. So, say you want to help heal an addiction and have no idea where to start you can read the book's suggestion of Archangel Raphael, Babaji, Devi, Maat and Serapis Bey, and decide which one you would be interested in working with.

I would recommend this book to anyone interested in learning a bit more about the archangels and ascended masters. It's fun, easy to use, and filled with ideas to help one on the journey of personal healing and enlightenment.
