This review is from: Archer at Large: Three Great Lew Archer Novels of Suspense (Hardcover)
If you bought this book, you are likely of the baby-boomer generation and read these novels at an earlier age. The writing is still great, but just as Chandler's Philip Marlowe occupied a pre-WWII California, Lew Archer was a man of the fifties and sixties, while southern CA was becoming the sprawling megalopolis that exists today. In his stories, it was still possible to drive in and through LA without arriving exhausted from the journey. The sordid side of human nature is still the same, but the framework it hung on seemed to go at a gentler pace than today.

I had this book many many years ago and wanted to re-read some of Ross MacDonalds mysteries....the book is still in my home library. It took me down memory lane in a good and satisfying way. The whole experience from ordering to recieving the book in the mail in a very good package, was top notch! I will defintely buy from this seller again!
