Amazing album, possibly the best release of 05,
This review is from: Archetype (W/Dvd) (Audio CD)
This album totally caught me by surprise, in a good way. The introduction sets the stage perfectly and is followed by 14 beautifully laced tracks which you can listen to in any mood. Porcelain will touch your soul, Let's go will get you amped, Heavyweight will demonstrate Tonedeff's great rapping/writing ability while a track like Gathered will demonstrate his great singing talent.
Definitly an album for any Hip Hop head that is sick and tired of listening to the same music since '97. You will NOT be deceived.

Archetype is the album that should be on constant rotation on every radio station. This is the the stuff that actually deserves to get played out. This is the album that lyrically and musically slaps any nay sayer across the face. Tonedeff is everything hip-hop should be. Blazing beats, heartfelt lyrics, and pure talent make Archetype, not only Tonedeff's best work thus far, but a arguable instant classic. Simply put, this album reminds me of Mortal Kombat....Flawless Victory. Buy it, in all honesty, you won't regret it.

The Archetype,

With "Archetype" Tonedeff has created a masterpiece of musical embodiment. From start to finish this album delivers on a level that is uncommon in the watered down 'pop culture hip-hop'. As well as being musically ear pleasing, Tonedeff's lyrical content and flow are unmatched by ANY rapper. "Archetype" is without a doubt album of the year. In addition to getting a superb album the "Archetexture" DVD is filled with commentary from some of underground hip-hop's biggest stars and Tonedeff himself, which makes this album one of the best purchases I have ever made.

I must say I was suprised when I heard this album. I was not expecting the sheer musical talent showcased on this CD. The lyrics are impressive and the flow is tighter than ever.
From emotional tracks like "Porcelain" to bangers like "Lets Go", this album has it all. Tonedeff shows off his amazing talent for crafting beautiful music like never before. Being a music student for many years, I must say this is the most complete Hip-Hop product I have ever heard. Keep an eye out for other QN5 releases coming later this year including PackFM, CunninLynguists, Session, Mecca, and Kynfolk.

This was the most anticipated album for me ever. I have never looked more foward to a CD than this one. People thought I was crazy how much I wanted this cd and how excited I was to first hear the Retail Date and the single. This CD for me is everything. It gives me songs for any mood I can ever be in.
I looked most foward to this CD because of how different I knew it would be. Tonedeff shows a tremendous amount of versatility on this cd, from his singing on Porcelain to his incredible fast rapping on Heavyweightn and Case Closed. To me, he is a true definition of an artist. The CD shows how talented he is when it comes to music. he displays everything you could imagine This is not a CD where you pop it in and be like "wtf is he talkin about" This is a CD anybody can relate to and respect. Overall this cd is everything I'd want from a CD. It fills up damn near 70 minutes of great music. Out of the hundreds of CDs I own, this one stays in my cd player and on my MP3 player.

These days, good music is getting harder and harder to find. thats where the Archetype comes into play...the cd has been in my player since the day i've got it...no matter how many times i play it, i never get tired of hearing it.
Tracks like Masochist, Loyal, Politics, Heavyweight and Children show how "deep" Tonedeff is. The Overture, Porcelain, Gathered and parts of Pervert showcase Tonedeff's singing talents, while songs like Archetype, Let's Go, Issawn, Quotables, Disappointed and Case Closed exibit Tonedeff at his finest via punchlines and remarkable flow. Feel like listening to something good?? pick up Archetype...everything else is probably wack anyway =P

This is by far the most amazing album to come out in years! The craftmanship of the lyrics combined with the amazing production from such underground hip hop kingpins as Domingo, Kno, Elite, and Tonedeff really make this the not to miss album of 2005. If I was stranded on a desert ilsand with three things they would be a cd player, batteries, and archetype. Do not miss out on this CD+DVD!!!!

Tonedeff's highly anticipated album the Archetype was a work in the progress as Tonedeff's fans have been waiting for something to drop. Any fan of mainstream or underground hiphop would enjoy this album. Some of my favorite tracks are Masochrist, Porceclain, and Politics. Mixing Tonedeff's singing abilities with his original flow (Tonedeff is definitely considered the best flow in the game) This album can't be slept on for any fan of hiphop. I highly recommend it, it's got to be the hottest album i've purchased within the last couple years.

This album is fresh. I bump it a lot. B. Coming and Documentary are sick (pick those up), but at the same time, u need albums Like Archetype, which comes from a different direction, but is still accessible. Too many less popular rappers are overly abstract and sound wack to me, but Tonedeff is nice in my opinion, cause he's unique, but not in a corny way. Nice lyrics, but his strongest point is his flow, or should I say flows, cause he is pretty versatile.
Nice mix of sad, angry, funny, and happy songs. Just another one of those albums that mixes things up perfectly. Pick this up. |
