4.0 out of 5 stars An impressive debut from a band I hope to hear more from
The Good
A melodic, yet haunting vocal intro ("Innocence") tricks the listener into thinking this album is going to be soft. Deepfield BURY that notion with the super-charged rocker "44 Teeth." Heavy guitars are flanked by enduring and melodic vocals throughout. "Get It' keeps the energy flowing with driving riffs and down-your-throat vocals. "Fall Apart" trades in...

Deepfield are a rock band from South Carolina who have toured alongside Puddle Of Mudd and The Exies. Their sound could be described as Exies-esque, although they draw influence from every end of rock from Collective Soul to 3 Doors Down to Linkin Park. Songs like Get It and Don't Let Go are strong enough to carry the album by themselves, but luckily, most of the songs...

The Good
A melodic, yet haunting vocal intro ("Innocence") tricks the listener into thinking this album is going to be soft. Deepfield BURY that notion with the super-charged rocker "44 Teeth." Heavy guitars are flanked by enduring and melodic vocals throughout. "Get It' keeps the energy flowing with driving riffs and down-your-throat vocals. "Fall Apart" trades in the heavy riffs for acoustic strumming. Not one to lose their edge, Deepfield brings back the distortion for the powerful chorus. "Into the Flood" mixes mid-tempo riffage with memorable lyrics. "The Silence" couldn't be more deafening. I have to tip my hat to the band for pumping out a killer cover of En Vogue's "Can't Let Go." I kept racking my brain on where I heard this before. Simply awesome.

The Bad
Nothing notable

The Verdict
Archetypes and Repetition is a dark and melodic album loaded with meaty riffs and powerful vocals that won't make you tremble. An impressive debut from a band I hope to hear more from in the future.

I have been searching for this cd for a long while after hearing "Into the flood" on the radio. I had combed through every store looking for it, but no one seemed to have it and I even tried downloading the song, but yet again I hit a brick wall. So when I found it on Amazon.com was excited. I debated for a bit because I had only heard one song, but I threw caution to the wind and bought it and I gotta say it was well worth it. Every single track is another hidden gem. The final track surprised me, they did a cover of en vogue's "Don't let go". I was already a fan of the all female sound, but after hearing the male vocals and the song turned from R&B to Metal, blew my mind completely. If you're looking for new music..don't think twice just purchase this cd. You won't regret it.

When I first bought this, I never heard of the band before. But I always take listen to the samples on Amazon. So when I hear them. I was very impressed right away with just the samplings. So I eventually I bought the CD. I am enjoying listening to it everyday. All songs are very good and should not be skipped. 'Don't Let Go,'and 'Into The Flood' are my two favorite songs. I hope to hear more from this band in the future.

Songs like Get It and Don't Let Go are strong enough to carry the album by themselves, but luckily, most of the songs here are just as good. If Archetypes and Repetition had come out last year during the whole emo craze, I'd have given it a 4, but we've had a good year of rock thusfar, so priority is just a bit lower. Check this out if you liked the new fuel or 12 stones albums.
