About the Author
George Gladir is an American comic book writer, primarily known for his work with Archie Comics, he co-created Sabrina the Teenage Witch, with artist Dan DeCarlo. He became a full-time comic book writer in 1959, doing one-page gag fillers for Archie Comics Archie's Joke Book and other titles. His first confirmed credit is the gag page "Sign Language", drawn by Dan DeCarlo, in Archie's Girls Betty and Veronica #59

Just how did Archie meet Betty? How did his first date with Veronica turn out? Witness the evolution of Jughead's hat from the 1940's to now! This book reprints the best Archie stories that were originally published in the 1940's. Archie and the gang looked, talked, acted so differently that this is great way to get to know how they came about. Perfect for any Archie fan.

I've wanted this book for a long time and when I got it, I found out it was worth the wait. Seeing the first Archie Comics from the 1940s provided a wonderful view of what life was like back then. I have been reading Archie for all omy life, and this is a great contrast.

Fans who've followed the escapades of Archie Andrews and his Riverdale gang over the years will find great delight in this volume containing 15 stories spanning the length of the 1940's. The stories chosen in this first volume are included primarily for their historical significance. Kudos to the editorial staff for selecting such highlights like his first ever appearance in, 'Pep Comics' #22 along with other tales that introduce for the first time ever:Betty Cooper While these early origin tales are not necessarily standouts storywise they do provide crucial insight into the genesis of this classic American comic series that fans will find much value in.
