Editorial Reviews

Review

"I absolutely loved this book. Once I started reading this book, it was hard to put it down. It was much like a well loved novel. The proposed organization of this book was great. It is well written. The information in the charts and illustrations fit each topic. Many of the chapters were short in length which made it easier to offer one a chance to absorb the subject better…. There is enough information in this book that several syllabuses can be made up for several semesters."

"This book provides a very comprehensive outlook into residential architectural design and drafting. It discusses all aspects of architectural design."

"The information contained on all plan areas is great. My students learn very much from this text. It is very self explanatory, easy to read and comprehend. Illustrations shown throughout the text help students understand what is being taught." --This text refers to an alternate Hardcover edition.

4.0 out of 5 stars A very great book for the architect or design student, October 27, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Architectural Drafting and Design (Hardcover)
This book is great. It has everything in it you need to know about different architect and design terms. There are also a lot of floor plan sketches in it to show you how they are done. This book has many units on individual topics. The plumbing section is interesting along with the electrical. I reccomend this book to anyone who is interested in studying architect or drafting. This is a great book to solve all of your worries about the field of architecture.

I bought it used (1996 edition)at a bargain rate, in top condition. I'm changing from mechanical to architectural design and the book is priceless for me. It has all the basics, and lots of details. The book is a textbook with assignments and tests. Saves going to class. The focus is on design rather than CAD.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the Architectural Drafting and Design textbook. It is one of the most comprehensive, clear, well-organized, easy-to-read textbooks of its type. If you plan on preparing to take the test to be ADDA certified, or just desire a great depth and breadth of the subject, this is the book for you. It is an incredible book that you will absolutely love reading and studying. The foundational knowledge and understanding you will gain from it is invaluable and worth every minute of your time. Thank you, David Madsen and Alan Jefferis, for writing it.
