From the Manufacturer

The Solid Cast Brass 4-Inch Floating House Numbers offer a classically elegant appearance. Each house number is hand finished in a premium metallic finish. They can be mounted flush with the wall or you can leave the mounting screws partially out of the holes for a floating number effect. No holes or unsightly screw heads are shown.

This is a nice house number. It is a great modern font and matches the other satin nickel and brushed nickel items on my front porch. We bought three numbers and they are all mounted with two "nails". These are not normal mounts. It is essentially a pointed nail with threads on one end. The threads screw into the back of the number, giving you two pointed spikes to put into the wall. The instructions mention a 3/16 drill bit - which is just right. You use the sharp spikes to mark where you want these on the wall, drill your holes, and use a rubber mallet to hammer the numbers into place. I left mine about 1/4 inch away from the side of the house to give a nice floating look - which also puts a nice shadow line behind it giving more visibility to the number.

These are very nice. Only wish they made a larger size - maybe 6 or 8 inches.

Attractive, simple and easy to install. I took but a few minutes to measure, scribe, drill and install. Hint, these can be installed ‘floating’. Just put and wood spacer behind and tap with a rubber mallet till barely touching and wiggle spacer out. I used a 3/8” spacer but I think you could go ½” and used painters tape on the spacer to avoid marking the wall.

I bought 4 new letters to replace painted wooden house numbers that were coming apart. I thought these new numbers would fit the bill. As usual the project required more effort than you would think, starting with removing the old numbers, filling the screw holes, then repainting the wooden panel they were attached to (paints was messed up under the old numbers after removal). Next, screw in the anchoring pins behind the numbers and figure out the spacing of the numbers. They have to be in a straight line across and individually properly plumb. Also, the way I was taught, the space between successive numbers is supposed to leave equal areas rather than equal minimal distances. So the distance between a 1 and a 7 would be less than between two 1's.

I gave this product 4 stars. I would have preferred 6 inch high letters not 4 inch.

I have a five digit house number. Out of the first five I ordered, two had defective fasteners. I really liked the look, so I reordered the two defective numbers and now have them installed. They have threading in the back that the fasteners screw into that is VERY shallow was the problem. I used the "floating number" look and that does make the numbers more visible. I just spaced 'em with a T square and tapped 'em in with a rubber mallet. They look great now and appear they'll last.

This is pretty straightforward - it's a 4 inch tall house number in a nice satin nickel finish. It comes with all the mounting hardware needed and has a nice, contemporary look. I decided to install it in a 'floating' fashion and it looks superb. And for those unfamiliar with WYSIWYG - What You See Is What You Get.

I love the look of these numbers, nice and bold; can be seen from the street. If you drill the 3/16" hole they are easy to push right in, but also hold their position solidly as well.
