It's a solid mailbox and very very nice looking.

The big issue here is that the little door hinge has like a magnet and it won’t keep the little door closed.

I love how it looks, we got the bronze one with antique copper accents and it matches the house too.

I love how it looks, we got the bronze one with antique copper accents and it matches the house too. The detail and coloring are great; the quality is obvious. I was surprised by the weight, it's not a big deal; I just didn't realize it was going to be so heavy. You get what you pay for from them, a sturdy, attractive mailbox.

Got this mailbox after our garbage service ran over our old one, which was well overdue for replacement.

It's a solid mailbox and very very nice looking. We also got the post that comes with the mailbox and the two items match perfectly together. My only comment is that the post is a bit tall, so you may need to dig a little more depending on how high you want your mailbox to be.

The comments regarding the latch are somewhat true. They almost discouraged us from buying the item, but as it turns out, you can adjust the internal catch so that it clips tighter.

Within months of installing this mailbox the door would not stay closed. Velcro worked for a while, but once it got snowy, the door wouldn't stay closed and was therefore destroyed by snowplows (despite having built a snow deflector). I now have a cracking old plastic box on top of the post, and am looking for another mailbox that will fit the Architectural Mailboxes post. This was a huge waste of (a lot of) money.

i ordered this mailbox (black with copper) with the stand (Architectural Mailboxes Coronado In-ground Decorative Mailbox Post, Black) and love the overall look with my house. it is by far the best mailbox on the block and it is obvious from looking at it, it is of high quality. we purchased hardware numbers from restoration hardware in copper to match and it looks great. very happy with the quality and looks of this mailbox and would definitely recommend if you are going for this look.

Returned product. Latch is weak and poorly designed, would not hold the door closed. Architectural trim was not shaved and interfered with the door hinge. Amazon return policy is great.

The box is nice, heavy and well made. I love the color and how solid it looks. The big issue here is that the little door hinge has like a magnet and it won’t keep the little door closed. I am not sure if the magnet is not strong enough of what... So I had to take it down because my mailbox was always open.

This is a helluva expensive mailbox but it will last. It's slightly oversized so a lot of packages sent in the mail will fit inside. I'm sure our mailman appreciates it! The color scheme has kind of an understated elegance to it and blends in with our wooded landscape.
It's all metal and it's not lightweight tin either. Nice powdercoat paint job, too. Magnetic latch. Kinda feels like you are opening a safe... ;)

My previous mailbox lasted 12 years or more. It was a simple, thin, black plastic box, well beaten, and often put back together. Why, I wondered, would I want to replace the $10 mailbox with something costing ten times as much, when I could simply buy another $10 box (well, $15 now). I found out why when I viewed the Architectural Mailboxes. We were always going to the post office to pick up packages that were too small to fit into our old mailbox. Most packages were not large; just would not fit in the mailbox. Since our house is on a side street from the mailbox, the mailman would not deliver packages to our door (don't go there). With this new box, we got the volume we need to avoid those annoying trips to the post office (and the $3-4 in gas that it takes to go there and back). The mailbox is solidly made: it weighs every ounce stated on the package… I don't see it giving up the ghost soon. It was easy to mount (I used some left over pressure treated wood as a base to mount on a stone pillar with a metal support). I shouldn't have to dicker with this mailbox for years to come. The door is solid, and closes solidly (unlike those mentioned by some reviewers). Though I was hesitant to pay so much for a simple mail box when my old $10 mailbox lasted so long, I've probably saved enough in gas money in the past month to make inroads into a big chunk of the cost difference between the two boxes!
